Red Dash Lights

Red Dash Lights
So a while ago I installed incandescent red lights in my gauge cluster. Problem is, it's not very bright. Has anyone installed *specifically* red LED 194 wedge lights in their dash? I know red isn't a very bright color which is why I'm asking for it specifically.
If so, which ones did you get? I'm thinking of getting something like this:

It's not the cost that's making me research this as much as the work required to change these damn things out...
Thanks

SMD LED's are about the brightest you'll find. I put white SMD's in my '70 and love them.

Red "bulbs" are used in military aircraft because the light doesn't glare or make the pilot visible in the cockpit. I saw an article in which the LEDs were too bright --so the owner installed some sort of ?resistor" to slightly dim the LEDs.
I would like to switch to red also....but I need a bout 2 hours/a bottle of advil to change out the bulbs...LOL!

Christmas Eve my wife had to work while I had the day off so I installed some Warm white LED Bulbs in my '76 then we drove that night to check out the Christmas lights and the new dash lights that are 100 times better than the factory lights. They offer them in Red but I would be curious as to whether the Red will remain with the factory tinted/painted cups that are behind the instruments that is a slight greenish blue. You might have to take that apart and spray it a different color then again maybe not. The bulbs fit and look great in the color I went with.

I used blue SMD LED and I love it, but the original dimmer can't control them only OFF/ON.

Problem is the colored incandescent bulbs are painted which makes them less bright. White LED vs White incandescent is probably true, but I'm hoping since red LED's produce red light without having to go through a filter that they'll be brighter.

I did the conversion on my C3, went with the 360 deg red (except for the turn signal and a few indicator lights which I used the 360 deg whites). Doing the entire gauges (tach, speedo and center gauge pod) set me back about 30 bucks in bulbs shipped. The red is PLENTY bright, and dims somewhat. I did put a few regular NEW bulbs back in because the white led's were TOO bright. The green glowing tach and speedo numbers look pretty cool at night with the red surrounding them. superbrightleds.com

I painted the inside of the housing white to better reflect.

Or to paint white like Raphiki suggested... TO THE LAB!!! Actually I'd think white would be best since unless you get the 100% correct shade of red to match the light emitted by the diode, some of it will get absorbed.

The LED's I installed work with the factory dimmer switch.
