Fiero seats w/Mr. Mikes covers install
Hi guys, so I got my Fiero seats installed and thought I'd post how I did it in case anyone wanted to see how I adapted the mounts. I'm a cheap bastard and didn't want to make the complicated ones that you can buy, I'm always looking for an easier way
After doing some quick measurements I decided that if I got some flat iron 3" wide by 20 1/4" long and 3/16 thick that would do the job, I did buy them a little long and was glad I did which will become clear in a minute.
I measured for the holes that bolt to the floor, drilled the holes with my little harbor freight drill press bolted them to the floor then set a seat in to figure out where to make the holes to bolt the seats to the new brackets. Well everything was looking good until I looked at the inside back mount and figured out that my metal was not wide enough, in comes the extra bit that I bought. I cut and welded on a 1" piece measured for the hole and all was good. I used 3/8" carriage bolts for mounting the Fiero seats to the new brackets, tacked them in and I was good to go!
After cleaning them up, I painted them with the buckskin vinyl and fabric dye that actually worked out really well. after cleaning up and painting the Fiero seat rails I painted them with semi gloss black engine enamel, sorry didn't take pictures of them.
Now came time to recover the seats w/leather covers from Mr. Mikes, I can not say enough about the customer service, quality of product and completeness of the kit. Mr. Mike is a great guy, quick response to e-mails and made sure I had any and all questions answered quickly. The seat covers a fricken awesome as you will see. The kit comes with everything you need down to glue, extra foam, cotton padding (which is explained in the video that is also very easy to follow and complete), you will not need a thing extra!
I didn't take any pictures of the actual job of covering the seats but here's a picture of them done.
I also didn't take any pictures of the install that's pretty straight forward. so here's some pictures of the seats installed. I am completely happy with the way they turned out!
Now I have to say that this install wouldn't work for someone who is tall, you will sit a good 2 maybe 3 inches taller but the good Lord didn't bless me with an abundance of altitude, attitude yes altitude not so much (I'm 5'6") so it worked out great and my wife loves em since she doesn't have to use her booster seat anymore, she's 5'.
If anyone wants the patterns of the adapter brackets let me know I did trace them out on some cardboard.
I hope you like...

Looks good!
Can't wait to get mine installed! I did the covers a few months ago but haven't been able to install yet.
Hope they are comfortable

Thanks guys, yeah they are much more comfortable then the originals. I took it for a ride this afternoon after work, love the way the bolsters hold you in the seat around corners!

Looks factory. Very nice.

Advanced
I was generous and paid $100 for a decent set.
Getting harder to find and shipping make it a bust, so I grabbed some locally and paid a bit more.

Im glad those turned out so nicely for you, but disappointed in the loss of head room! Im 6'6 and having a hard time finding something thats more supportive than the stock seats without losing any headroom

Good morning guys, thanks for all the compliments
Fly, forgive me but it's a bit hard to feel sorry for you but I guess being that tall can be somewhat of a pain at times though I wish I had about 6" of your height, my life may have been a bit different - I know my childhood would have been! Maybe some C5 seats will work for you or maybe you can find a good upholsterer that is creative/good and can build some bolsters in for you...
I drove the Vette into work this morning, it's going to take a little getting used to the way I sit in the car now but I am really enjoying the look and feel of them
