To Paint or Not to Paint?
Hey guys, its been a while posting here for me, but i recently picked up a '73 that needs a light restore. it is a matching # l82/auto, medium blue with blue interior coupe. She is 100% stock, but sat ourside for many years, so needs a full paint redo.
The question is....I was thinking of painting it steel cities grey, but will that diminish the value too much? I don't mind the blue, but thre blue on blue doesn't do much for me.... should I do a color change?
Mark

Hi Mark,
To a person who's interested in originality, and having a car judged, the color change is a big issue. This is because of the high $$$ cost of changing the car back to it's original color.
However to a person who has no interest in having the car judged, the color change matters not at all.
On a really nice car I'd think it would reduce it's value to the first person I described by $7500.
Regards,
Alan

Paint it whatever you like, but with the money and labor involved in a quality paintjob, you'll have to live with that choice for a long time. There are times I regret not painting mine the original color, WBY.
SCG is a beautiful color on a Corvette, though.

It's your car, paint it the color you want. Why paint it a color you don't like just for someone else, that would be dumb. My car was originally Ontario orange and is now one of the blue's (needing repaint), I have no intention of going back to the original color when I repaint it.
