Default New here , my 68 vette build

I got a call at the end of last summer from a older guy looking to unload this 327, auto convertible .Went over to check it out an car was in ok shape . engine ran but was sitting for years , numbers were matching but everything needed love .. So after me scoring a great deal I brought it home

so after a tune up an fluid changes it was running better but the tires brakes an bearings were crap .. Went ahead an did a full brake job along with spindles an bearings in the rear ..Added some new rims an tires 18s front an 20s rear an hit the trashed paint with a buffer an drove it some

the Engine was leaking from pretty much anywhere a 327 could drip from plus a few ,so the motor an trans got stripped out ..the Motor is at the shop getting a .030 bore an some other good stuff an trans is getting freshened up with a shift kit .an I have a new rear with 4:11s in it .plan is to get the new driveline done an in for this summer then paint an body work in the fall .. its also getting all new suspension bushings, tie rod ends ,an balljoints steering box an PWR steering ram .. ill update pics as I make some progress on it ..

Welcome to the Forum! Your car just brought back a memory. When I was younger I was playing on a basketball team and my friends older brother had that car. He was our coach and we were @12 or 13 years old. We always said how cool that car was! Thanks for the throwback memory!!

NICE! Hey - take pics of the stamp pads before they deck the block (if they do).

I'll go one step further. Don't let them deck the block.

the car wasn't really that bad when I got it , so it wont be a crazy project .. the interior is near mint an the top is nice ..

my main goal is to get it back to running an driving this year an enjoy it then blow it apart in the fall for a Resto .. Im a Bodyman by trade so i guess i have a leg up on this build ..

The front end was wrecked previously on the car so it has some ****** glass work that is cracking along with a red paint job over the factory blue that's older than i am ..

cant wait to have it finshed ..thanks for the warm welcome

little more progress included sandblasting an refinishing the factory wheels with DuPont base clear .. i like the idea of switching up the wheels pending my mood

Make sure the engine shop knows you do not want the engine pad machined. Those numbers can never be replaced.

My side pipes are 5 years old and I still remind the wife to watch out for the hot pipes EVERY time she gets out. No burns for the wife or me so far.
