When I was mucking around with one of my 81's I wanted to add a wiper door, the windshield would not allow it along with other firewall stuff,
Now, I will wait and hear from cats here who know far more about these type of year to year changes than I do, but an early windshield might fit a later car but a later screen won't fit an early car is my off the wall guess....but neither will be "right"

I'm having a real hard time finding any less than 200 and for the same price as painted ones I can get some that are already polished but they're off of a 68 or 74 the guys not too sure

The header molding from a 71 will fit, but not the A-pillar moldings.
The 68-72 A-pillar moldings are shorter, and shaped different at the bottom, then the 73-82 moldings. This is because the shape of the top of 68-72 fenders, is different then 73-82 fenders. The 68-72 fender tops have the small molding on them, that meets up with the wiper door molding. The A-pillar moldings are flat on the bottom, to meet the fender moldings. The 73 up fenders don't use the molding, but instead have a flared top edge, to correspond with the flare on the rear of 73 up hoods. 73-82 A-pillar moldings, are swedged at the bottom, to tuck in behind the fender top.
Except for the finish on them, 73-82 moldings are exactly the same, but because of the differences in the fenders, they are not interchangeable with 68-72 moldings.

I have an assortment of used moldings. I'll try to post a picture of the different ones tomorrow.

Below is a picture of the various A-pillar moldings, used from 68-82.
The top one is the 68-72 type, the middle one is the 73-76, and the bottom one is the 77-82. You can see that the bottom of the 68-72 molding, is quite a bit different than the ones used from 73 up. (Ignore the extra dents and bends, these are just some junk ones that I've never bothered throwing out)
Sorry, but the windshield glass itself, is different too.
There were three windshields used between 68 and 82. One fit in 68-72, one was for 73-77 and one was used in 78-82's. The difference is the shape of the bottom of the glass. From looking at them, you might be able to interchange 73-77's with 78-82's, but I don't think any of the 73-82's are interchangeable with 68-72's.
