All original 1970 LT-1 coupe, 36k miles - value?
Helping a friend figure out a price to put on a one owner, 1970 LT-1 coupe. Yellow, black pinstripes on hood, black leather interior. Car has original engine, paint, interior. This car was purchased new and maintained by 1 fanatical owner. Pricing ideas appreciated. The car will be for sale but for now trying to determine the "asking price".
Car located in Western PA area. Thanks for your help.

Hi Bob,
!970 Lt-! cars can be VERY valuable.
Being a one owner car makes it interesting to many people.
But with out a lot more information about the car, and pictures, people are really only making a guess.
Just as one example; many Lt-1 cars have had the AIR system removed.
Finding the properly dated parts can be a several thousand dollar journey.
Lt-! cars are very serious sb Corvettes, and thus are subjected to serious scrutiny buy perspective buyers.
Just what exactly does your friend have?
Regards,
Alan

Alan, this car is extremely nice. I can email a couple of pictures if you or someone can post. The owner passed away and his wife is selling a couple of his cars. They bought this car new in 1970 and maintained it to the highest of standards. The car has been entered in and won many concourse events. Without trying to exaggerate the car, I would ask what is the best 70 LT-1 with original paint, 36k, meticulous records and paperwork worth? This car is that good.
I added a couple of pictures to "My Corvette Photos" - pending approval.

A lot of "rare" cars sitting around for their asking prices. Not moving ...people dreaming .
I saw a lot of lt1 at Carlisle. And most were reasonable priced for restoration and not selling.
Comes down to the old adage ....how bad she needs to sell and how bad you, want the car.
I would not pay much over wholesale......the dealers sure won't , if that and you'll never sell it quick ,but at low ball to a dealer .
I'd soon have a 69 350 350 ....in same condition .

LS4 is right, the LT-1s are not bringing big money anymore. I think some folks realize that the 69, 350-350 is a better performer for less money.

Better performer for less money? Please elaborate; I have always wanted a 1970 LT-1 but settled for a 1969 L46 that was factory equipped with 3.70 rear, 4 speed, no AC and TI. Figured it was a close to an LT-1 as I could afford.
However, I never thought it was a better performer than the legendary LT-1.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you can always trick up a 350/350 such that no one will know. Stroke it to 383 with four bolt mains. Re-cam it, if you don't think the exhaust note would be noticeable.

Lt-1
A 70 LT-1 is a very desirable corvette and will bring decent money. I would put it on ebay with a high reserve to see where it goes. Daytona Yellow and black interior is a good color combo too.
The 71 and 72 LT-1s are just not the same. I have seen 71 and 72 Top Flite coupes go for around $30k-$35k.

Trust me, I would love to see the L46 cars get the recognition they deserve; I just don't agree with your opinion that the L46 is a better performer than an LT-1 car.
