Default C3 carpet choices...

I want to replace the carpet in my '73 while I've got seats/dash/console out for repairs.

Has anybody tried the 80/20 loop carpet from Newark Mfg?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/CORVETTE-1968-1977-BLACK-LOOP-SEWN-TO-CONTOUR-CARPET-WITH-20-OUNCE-PADDING-/400362528688?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3ACorvette&hash=item5d37775fb0&vxp=mtr
Price is a reasonable and the quality looks good.

What does C3 General think?

I am not familiar with Newark Auto, but if the price seems too good to be true, I've learned to get nervous. Contact the seller through ebay and ask who makes Newark Auto carpet.

Hi m,
If you purchase an Al Knock manufactured carpet set through a trusted vendor like Willcox you'll know exactly what you're getting and companies that will stand behind it.
If Newark Mfg. isn't making this themselves ask who's carpet it is.
Regards,
Alan

If the carpet itself wasn't Al Knoch or ACC, I wouldn't care who was selling it or what the price was.

I went with ACC (purchased through Corvette Central) Fit was great with just minor trimming required.
Sure freshened up the interior!

ACC for me, and I am very pleased with the quality product-my floor mats are in the way, but hope you get the idea.

The original carpet was molded to fit the contour of the floor. Both ACC and Knoch carpet, are molded as original. I think you'll find the fit and durability of molded carpet, to be much better.

This appears to be a generic carpet set, for all 69-77 Corvettes. If you go to their ad, and put in a certain year and body style, you get the same part number, no matter what you enter. Coupe and convertible carpet sets are different, as is the cut of the carpet, for different years. This means that you will likely end up with a fair amount of trimming, and still may not get a great fit.

Finally, the seller doesn't ask if the carpet set is needed for an auto and 4 speed. The passenger side floor is shaped different, on 69-74 Corvettes, when the automatic was installed. Unlike the carpet from this advertiser, carpet from ACC and Knoch, are different for automatics and 4 speeds, as they should be.

If your throwing something together to flip, then this carpet is probably fine, but if your doing a car to keep, enjoy and be proud of, pay a little extra, and get a carpet set you know will fit.

Yeah, you guys are correct... I'm going with the molded style carpet from Wilcox.

Thanks for the help.
