C3 sitting outside for 15+ years---Buffed it back to its former glory
Got my dad's 73 Corvette last year. After getting it road worthy again I decided to give it a good buff and it really turned out nice. My brother and I plan on doing a complete restoration on it next year, but for now thought this would keep it from looking like bubba was driving it.
Just for reference I used a 3M rubbing compound on a Dwelt buffer at 1500 rpm. took me about 3 hours

It wouldn't take a lot to get it crack-free again--

Looks great!!! Now, what to do for the frame rust it accumulated underneath over those 15 years???

That really is a huge difference. I looks good.
If you maintain it out of the sun when you are not driving it, It should keep the shine till your ready for the restoration next year. It will fade back within a few months if left out in the sun.

That TLC goes a long way to change attitudes. I hope that you can store it in a garage now so that you don't have to repeat the exercise.
Looking good.
