I've read several times that it was the government cracking down on how loud the engines were out of the factory. About mid-way through the '70 production year, the air cleaners were changed from open element to closed element, also due to noise restrictions.

Love the color and the hubcaps. The personality of this car, just shine through! And sometimes, the tops got to get popped off. It just enhances the experience , especially at night
