Great looking wheel. Very popular, too.

The website says the wheel is 18x8 with a 4.52 inch backspace. The factory backspace dimension is 4.0 inches, putting this wheel approximately 0.5 inch farther inboard, towards the frame. This reduces by 0.5 inch, how far the wheel/tire shows past the factory fender lip, also.

If this wheel is installed and steering turned lock-to-lock, it's possible to rub the frame, sway bar, or steering components on the front axle; guessing that the rear wouldn't have any real issues, other than possibly securing the e-brake cable to the TA to avoid inteference.

Backspacing is the dimension that I search for as most important when considering which wheel to mount on OEM fendered vehicles. If no bodywork is planned, your baseline to decide can be made from the OEM dimensions.

Flared fenders allow for wider wheels made with the aforementioned OEM 4.0 inch backspace. Notched or custom frames in association with modified wheelwell/wheelhouse allows for more negative (inside fender) clearance. In either of those cases, you would be free to select almost any wheel/tire dimension.

I bought a set of those for my '74 from Summit Racing because the clerk insisted that they would fit. I test fit them before having tires mounted and I took them back because it looked like they were going to rub the sway bar when a tire was mounted.

I ended up with Centerline wheels with a 4" backspace and 245x40x18 tires. Those are really close to rubbing on my rack and pinion steering but it sticks out farther than the standard steering.

You're correct if you're not dealing with a wheel company that offers "custom" back spacing.
