Still tying up loose ends on the motor but got in a package from Zip Corvette. A couple of radiator hoses and this very nice driveshaft. It is actually 2-1/2" diameter compared to the old 2-1/4" diameter. Great price too. As you can see the old one was pitted and probably no longer in balance as a result.

JR,
One of the biggest regrets I ever had, was not spending the extra money on a Borla 400774 set, and settling for a cheaper alternative. Oh, I suppose ANY muffler can't hide what a 383 puts out. But every time you turn on that engine and drive that machine, you will thank yourself you spent the extra $$ for those mufflers.
My 2 cents.

Glad to see you went with the Borla's... the welds on the exhaust looks great!
Excellent progress - that driveshaft looks beautiful!
How hard was it to straighten that fuel line out once you got to putting it in place? I've never done one before.

I've been using this same theme in my build. I'm going with the parts I want, and will hope to save money in the long run by buying things once, not twice. It slows the project while the budget catches up, but that's ok... every year the Vettes just get more classic, Right?

JR, I love the strap setup - did you get one of the body lift strap sets and chop it?

As far as the fuel lines. After the initial shock of seeing them bent like that so they can stuff them in a six foot box. They were pretty easy to straighten out and I cant tell now where they were bent. (I must be pretty good)

right now I'm working on getting the fuel to the carburetor so I'm chasing down the parts I need. My latest struggle is joining the OE style fuel pump fittings to AN fittings on the carb. I think I have that worked out so tomorrow I make up a length of braided stainless line to finish it out.

still connecting the dots on the motor start up. Though I haven't been putting up many pix.
Stubborn fuel line wanted to be close to the lower radiator hose so I made an aluminum (billet) bracket to keep it where I wanted it.

That's a really nice bracket to hold things. The motor looks great. Nice job!

I want to get the PS pump on before the radiator before it gets crowded in there so I need to clean out the inside also make sure it pumps and the seal doesn't leak so I made a bushing to screw onto the odd ball 9/16 thread and turned down the end to chuck up in a half inch drill. I heard ATF is good to run through it to clean it out (later I'll flush it out with clean PS fluid) I tried it before I put the hose on and just held it over a drain pan and it shot a stream of fluid 20 ft. I wasn't even spinning it that fast. Guess it works.
