Need 1969 AIM UPC 1 (Doors), Sheet K8
All,
I am looking for a scan of UPC 1 (Doors), sheet K8 of your 1969 AIM. I'm specifically looking for one that has any revisions after March 17th, 1969. I'd love to see if there is only one copy in circulation, or if there may be different copies of the same page.
Thanks!

Hi LMP,
71 UPC1 Sheet K7 is dated 3-17-70.
It looks to be the same drawing with some modifications….. notably the disappearance of the 'wedge' and the 'plate'.
Regards,
Alan

Sure does Alan. I spoke with an owner of a '72 that mentioned the holes were still in the door where the wedge mounts. I am guessing you have the same two open holes in your door?

Hi LMP,
On my 71 there are no holes in the door frame and 2 dimples in the lock pillar cover.
Regards,
Alan

I have the Mid-America 69 AIM. Same as VBs page with the exception of having a Mid-America logo on it. 3/17/69 change date.

Pete, I have an original copy of the 1968 & 1969 AIM issued FIRST by Mid America Enterprises. Thank goodness that they had the foresight to save these valuable documents for us. My 69 copy has the identical page to what Vettebuyer 5869 posted. However, both of my copies (68,69) have drafting graphic Chevrolet at the top and J 174 (instead of J 183) at the very top above ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS.
The top header also has 3940192 at the left side, then 1969 CORVETTE 19000 SERIES on the right.
The revision date is 3-17-69 I hope that this helps you, I live in Myrtle Beach,SC. Lou.

Thanks Lou. Maybe this is the only page in circulation. I'm still interested to know if anyone has this page with a later revision than 3-17-69.

Pete, I am certain that the AIM's were a reference at different locations in the plant, so all of the copies would have had the same information. They would not have wanted different information at different points in the assembly plant.
I am just curious, what is so important about the parts on this page, to you? Lou.

Starting around car #22212 (coupes only), the alignment block and wedge disappear from cars, yet I cannot find an AIM page that shows the removal of it. This change would have been made to the assembly manual and distributed to the plant floor.
I'm curious how it would be handled in the AIM since a page that included both coupes and convertibles (19000) would have been split up since it was continued on convertibles.
My only motivation is interest, that is all.

That makes perfect sense now! I was shocked to see my first 69 door, with that long brass block. 68's just have a small one, that no one repros, and the small plastic wedge, that no one repros. I do not understand how GM could eliminate it. Convertibles had a round tube like device. Early 68 convertibles did not have it and when I worked at my buddies gas station, a white 68 conv. was on the lift and I opened the door, to look inside at it's red interior and it would not close! I crapped my pants, thinking that I broke a customers car, but when I let the lift go down to the ground, the door would close then. Talk about a sigh of relief! Lou.
