Plasti-Dip'd my '79

Not to be negative but that stuff is a bitch to get off. My son painted his car with the Plastidip. He didn't like the look and showed up at my door wanting to remove it. A 3000 psi pressure washer wouldn't touch it. He finally resorted to trying to peel it. After many many hours we finally got most of it off.
I would like to know what you guys use to take the stuff off? I tried numerous chemicals including goop off to no avail.

I've seen on other forums where people flame them for using the stuff (mainly on newer cars). To be quite honest, it's not a bad option while you save up for a real paint job. Especially on cars where they are drivers. From experience, a real quality paint job costs almost as much as the car did...this would at least allow some folks to go out and feel more proud than having a 250 footer.
I like the stripe look some put on. Wouldn't do it on my 78 SA because I'm going more for orig. on it. But totally give 2 thumbs up to the pics I'm seeing.

Once it's cured, it can be a bitch to remove as you have found out. I used a nylon scraper.

I've seen a bunch of the dipyourcar vids and I believe they sell something to help remove stubborn dip. I want to say its orange based.
But yeah if its applied with enough thickness then its not to hard to peel, my only firsthand experience is with the spray can version and only on a quarter panel. But it peeled off easily.

One other thing you should do with that stuff. Spray the cat...

I played with some vinyl from Amazon and it turned out pretty well, and it won't cost anywhere near $1200. The big question is how it will hold up to the elements long term, but so far so good after 8 months.

I'll try to get a pic this weekend. My whole experiment came down to, "Can I wrap this difficult looking corner on my Daytona?" So that's all I have wrapped and the car sits where it gets some direct sunlight a couple of hours a day. I'll dust off that corner and hit it with spray detailer and we will see if it's still shiney.
I'm hoping to do the whole car this summer in a different color vinyl.
