Default What's my 73 Vette Worth?

Hi All, long time lurker. I've come to the realization that the Corvette that I have held onto for the past 20+ years will probably never get restored. I'm thinking about putting it up for sale and need help pricing it. I don't want to price it so high that it sits forever but don't want to get screwed.

Back story. My uncle was the second owner and purchased it back in 82. He re did the interior and painted it from its original Elkhart green to the Mille Migula Red. I bought it and drove it for a summer until I had a carb issue and parked it in 98. Its been sitting in a garage ever since. I know for sure its been garaged since 82 when my uncle bought it.

Its pretty much stock except for a cassette radio installed and the color change. Matching numbers car with A/C and a 4 speed, manual locks and windows and base 350 engine. The frame looks to be in good shape with the normal problem areas solid. Its not currently running, the brakes don't work and it needs exhaust and a front bumper and it was brittle and cracked bumped into (not by car) while being stored. It is restoration project.

Its located in Whitinsville MA incase region impacts price. Mileage is about 95k. Thanks for any input you guys could give.

L-48 w/air ? Non-running, color change . . . I've had a couple 73's . . . assuming the frame and birdcage are OK - - - $6-7500 ?

Good luck - -

It's a nice looking 73 and the things that you say it needs aren't too demanding, but it's still a non running project car. I think this time of year you'll end up getting around $6k.

There were a lot of them Elkhart green cars back in the day .

Most are red or black now. IMO a good thing.

Yeah that car would take a boatload of money if who ever buys it ..can't do the work them selfs. Just to make it safe and reliable., going to get expensive fast.

You should have never let it sit like that . For just a carb issue ...

5 or 6 thousand would be all I d spend on this car.

Shame.

Thanks for the input all. I'm going to start off at $7k and see where she goes. I was in college at the time of the carb issue and didn't have the money or knowledge to fix it then. Now I have a little more money and knowldege but not so much time with a full time job two little ones.

If it doesn't sell it can always sit in the detached garage. Not like I'm paying for storage.

It should sell for that amount, especially if you're flexible on that price.
If you don't have to sell it, and you have the room. keep it.
Those two "little ones" grow up fast, and I can hear it now..Dad, why'd you sell that Corvette you had?

I bought my 73 for $6500 in 2000. NEEDED a paint job but ran - L48 auto with air and power windows and brakes.

I would recommend changing the oil, giving her a tune up and see if you can get her to run. That'll raise the value considerably. Brakes can get expensive quickly, but again, a car that can drive away without killing someone is worth a lot more than a giant paperweight.

I also sold my car when I was short on cash.. but bought it back 4 years later!

Interior looks great on yours too, so that's a plus!

The buyer is going to spend alot of coin on it;
you will end up on the good side even if you sell for 5, 6 ,7 k
no matter.

Define "a lot." The car needs work, but could be a driver with a tune up and brake work. The pretty stuff could come later.

When I bought mine, my Corvette friends said "PAINT THAT THING!!" for 3 years after I bought it! I still loved driving it!
