1970 LT1 gas tank question
I need to replace my gas tank. Does someone have a picture of the correct gas tank. I found a nos tank but not sure what it should look like without the eec in it.
Thanks in advance,

With EEC, could be the pictures but the EEC seems to have a small pipe on the left

Hi,
The tank with EEC is shown in the "additional photos" on the Quanta page.
It has a pipe, and a bracket for mounting the EEC fuel separator, mounted to the tank's left side.
Regards,
Alan
This is my 71, but the 70 with EEC is the same.

Unless it was sold in California after January 1, 1970 no 1970 LT-1 should have EEC fittings on its tank ( actually they built the 1969 Vette up through December 1969 so there probably arent any California LT-1s without option NB-2 EEC on them.) My 70 LT-1 has its original tank, Quanta makes a very good replacement tank for the LT-1s. You would have a charcoal vapor recovery tank up front under the vacuum storage tank bolted to the frame rail if by chance you had a California emissions LT-1. You would also have the Holley List#4489 carb with the emissions fitting on the primary float bowl and not the List#4555 carb that the majority of 70 LT-1s were equipped with.
I'm reminded of a funny story....the 1970 LS-6 Chevelles also had the #4489 Holley, I once bought one in pieces at a swap meet for $40 and a couple of years later later sold it for $500 when it was reassembled but, I listed it in Hemmings as a 1970 375HP/396 carb ( yet another application ).....when the guy phoned and asked if I still had the " LS-6 carb ", negotiations on his part were impossible, if he had said 375HP/396 carb, I would have sold it for $400.....the " LS-6 tax " came into play on this occasion.
Alan as gracious and knowledgeable as he is on C3 Corvettes especially 1971 models, the 1971 LT-1 has a unique gas tank not shared with other C3s outside of the 1971 LS-6 model. Be sure of what you have before going an ordering replacement parts....if your building a " clone " please disregard all this information, even if you do finish a clone, I can probably pick it apart in less than a 10 minute inspection.....

Hi S LT-!,
As I posted the Quanta site has pictures of the left side of the 70 LT-! tank with and without the EEC required additional pipe and bracket.
I believe the left side of the 70 LT-! tank for a car WITH EEC is the same as the picture I posted.
I was responding to MW's post saying that the 70 EEC tank had the pipe… I was showing that in addition to the pipe it had the bracket too.
Regards,
Alan

I dropped the original tank out of my 70 LT-1 to photograph the tank sticker then reinstalled it. I should have good pics of a known original unit. They were 35mm film and I just went through all my digital photos and I guess I did not scan those. I can look in a few days for the prints for you.
