Help! P/S control valve stud spins.
I have under taken my 69' Stingray restoration. After 40 years of sitting outside things were very interesting coming apart... (to say the least). However, after a big parts order I was getting some of my front power steering core pieces disasembled when right away I noticed that the pitman arm was flopping around on the control valve body. So after everything eles came off this was my final inspection.
Right now the problem is that the ball stud just spins inside of the control valve. Does any one have a tip that will help remove it. Hopefully one that does not include damage to the valve unit itself.
Thank You.

I'll give it a shot tomarrow. I tried my picklefork that I used on Ball joints.. It was just a little too big. I am going to stop at autozone tomarrow and get something smaller. Thank you for the reply!!

Get a nut splitter and split the nut. Then get pitman arm seperator to get it out of the pitman arm.
Thing is if you use a pickle fork ,more than likely you will damage the center link. Where that pivot ball rides is pretty thin casting

Thanks everyone. Breaking the nut would have been much easier. But I didn't have one so I used a 3 inch cut off wheel and cut the nut in. Then broke it with a chisel. Done. Thanks everyone !

I haven't seen a 'spinning stud' since watching John Travolta in "Saturday Night Fever".
