Got temp tags for the '80. Custom antique plates are in the mail. My wife and kids washed both Vettes. I put a driver's seat in the '80 and took her for a test drive. No interior, and now a few more things to do, but some of the fixes worked.

Reunited some missing documents. The PO that had the car flight judged is in contact from Canada and in general chit chat mentioned he engaged Al Grenning to authenticate the engine casting numbers as it had a suspected factory ground out.

Well they belong with the car so we agreed a cost and they arrived today in pristine condition

And a bonus proof photo from the front cover of the NCRS restorer magazine it was featured in

Thanks Robert (PO)

Went for a little drive today. A light mist rain started. Turned on the wipers and they actually worked. Doing the happy dance.

This is my next project.
I'm getting a lot of "clink clink clink" at stops. They're not all that old either, 4/5 years if that. At least they should come out easy enough.
I've got a spare H/S so I can do one at a time to stay on the road.

Not much seat time left for me, 3 weeks, 4 if weather stays nice. By mid october I'm parked for the winter.

Drove the heap to work today, new trans is feeling good. Nice firms shifts, quiet, no rattles. so far, so good.

Finalist 2021 C3 of the Year - Modified
C3 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019

Default New Illinois license plates

Every 5 years we get new plates in Illinois, got mine today and they felt very light and flexible.
I miked the old/new plates and found the old plate was 0.25 and the new plates where 0.33 but it still felt flexible.
Mr. magnet to the rescue, the old plates are steel and the new ones are all aluminum. Great weight reduction program from the state of Illinois

Not sure about the "every 5 years" thing. My wife just received her first new plate since the car was new in 2001.
