I put my 4sp back in today. I took the electric headlight actuators out to get ready for the new vacuum actuators.

I took off the carb to adjust the float level. Put it back together and started putting it back on. I looked on the bench, I left out the plastic piece that hold in the float.

So after cursing a little bit, i took it back apart put the piece in. Put it back on the car, and decided to wait till tomorrow to hook it all back up and test drive.

I then came in, and watched a YouTube video on how to adjust the secondary air doors. I think they flop open too soon, so I'm going to tighten up the spring to see if that helps.

Now last night, I put a new water pump in it. It must have worked, there is no coolant leaking on the ground.

I walked out to the back yard, pulled up the garage door, pealed back the dust cover, and stared longingly. Then my future stretched out before me and flashed like a strobe light. It was me driving her down a country road in the sun, smiling. Then I was putting her away and wondering why when I hammered the breaks she pulled slightly to the right. My thoughts wandered (as they often do) to contemplating just how difficult it will be to replace the rear two body mounts that have rotted away into a crushed donut-like mass of 70's rubber. How soon will I brave the temps to replace the starter and install the starter heat shield? When will I redo the Retrosound stereo and hideaway amp and speakers tucked up against the roof of the rear? Do I really want to replace the stock hood with a stinger??? Yes, maybe, I don't know.

Then I slammed what was left of my bud light, lowered the door, and trudged back through the snow into the house, pouting the whole way.

She just sits calmly in the garage. Resting, with her car cover snugged around her shiny and smooth front bumper. I pass by her every morning and then again when returning from work. Sometimes a deliberately brush by her just to give her a sense that I'm there. Before bedtime, I make an excuse to secure the garage side door, but only to reach down, grasp her covered bottom skirt, pull it up just slightly, and take a peak at her beautiful red finish. Sometimes I even brush my hand across her outer fender lip or her beauty rims just to feel the smoothness of her finish.

Come one guys . . . tell me you've never done something like that . . .

Never something quite like that, but I've been caught sitting in the car pretending to drive when it is down.

Pulled apart the shift console to figure out what was causing the HVAC adjustment wheels to bind. Turns out the whole console was sitting too low on the tunnel. Raised it up to the right height, which wasn't easy, and now the wheels turn smoothly. Also noticed Bubba's aftermarket radio wiring is... messy. Functional, but messy. Will have to clean that up at some point.

I put in a Davis Unified Ignition Distributor. I had ordered it for the new engine that I'm building. I decided to try it out in my paltry stock engine for now. I gapped some new plugs to .050, put them in, and set the timing at 12 BTDC. Took her out for some spirited driving with some cheap 87 octane fuel. I have a very slight rattle at WOT but what a difference? My new engine will be running higher octane fuel so everything should be ok.

Nothing today, still waiting on the last few parts of my interior build, the cargo floor mat, the new stickers for under the cargo door and the console cushion. I keep tracking those USPS numbers, I hate waiting.

Just got my tracking number for the steeroids rack and pinion conversion that I ordered a few weeks ago. It should arrive tomorrow. I can't wait for that test drive once I install it!

Default new paint

Worked on the wiper door on my '69 L-68. Need to drop it off at the paint shop so they can shoot it with the rest of the car.

Gotta figure out the picture thing, I used to know how, but now I'm old
Hey, lock at that, I got it!

changed out the fuel pump gaskets. I put a new pump on it a few months back and noticed a very small leak at the bottom of the block where it bolts on. it was the thin paper gasket that came with the pump so I swapped it out with a thicker one I got from the speed shop. no more leaks
