I took a leap of faith today; traded my TH400 for a 700R4 set up. Now for a cross member and a shift quadrant.

Bubba and I repaired the heater blend door lever. Okay, I did it, Bubba wasn't here, I shaped a little aluminum, drilled some holes and glued the whole thing together. It seems quite solid now.

Installing all new A/C parts back into my 1981 Vette. Took the day off work today to finish installing and get ready to take my 1981 back to the A/C shop next week for vacuum, leak checks and R134a.

Cleaned and repainted my wheels. Took off all the wheels, scrubbed them down, wet sanded them, repainted the center ring black, installed new lug nuts, and new center caps.

Went to the Englishtown/Raceway Park swap meet here in NJ this past Saturday. Picked up a set of rocker panels in much better condition than mine ($45/pair), a set of new repro door handles ($30/pair), a set of new repro sill plates ($20/pair), and a set of ORIGINAL dual retractor seatbelts, GM buckles/sleeves, and well covers, all in GREAT condition with all the hardware ($130/pair).
Yesterday I removed the old seatbelts. The forward retractors were rusted into oblivion since the floorboard rotted out in the retractor well and left the retractors exposed to all the road crap, salt, and water. Had fun breaking them loose! Then I glassed-in the floorboards to seal up the wells. Eventually I'll replace the floorboards correctly when I have time/money for a full restoration.
I also ripped the dash apart to attempt tracking down the source of my alleged electrical issue. I found that the radio was not connected to ANY power at all, which I thought could be the cause why it didn't work, but after connecting power, it still didn't work. May just be dead.
Also started cleaning some of the interior panels. Big difference after scrubbing away 40 years of grime. So, Firethorn is apparently bright red, not Maroon!
Pictures to follow.

Got most of the way done with tearing down my parts car, got it off the trailer, just need to cut it up and pull the rear end out. Got the front clip off pretty easy, did a little damage along the seam back by the doors, but should be fairly easy to fix. Should pick up the new frame Friday, plan to start a build thread as soon as I get it.

So get this...
After leaking engine oil, ATF, and power steering fluid for the last 43 years, one of my biggest pet peeves with my car is that the bottom side is well coated with oil, grease, and dirt. I swear it's a 1/2" thick under there in some places.
Apparently it never bothered the prior owners as they did nothing to try and stop the leaks or clean up the mess underneath.
Well, I've got most of the leaks slowed down or stopped since I've owned the car, but couldn't really figure out how to clean the bottom side.
A fab shop that I recently used for repairs to my boat trailer has a big fork lift and a powerful pressure washer... and has agreed to take on the task. They're gonna' pick the car up with a fork lift and the low man on the totem pole over there gets to stand under it and go to work.
Sounds sketchy? Yeah, to me too... but I'm hoping for a good result. The shop owner seems pretty competent and ensures me they can handle it without issues.
Dropped it off this morning...

Update:^^
btw: getting the car up in the air high enough to gain access was the big issue. Nobody with an inside lift (including myself) wanted to raise it up and pressure wash or steam clean it because of the nastiness that was gonna' go everywhere during the process. It would be a major clean up project just to clean the walls/stall/building once the car was done.
Picked up the car after lunch and it looks pretty darn good... from what I can see without putting it on the lift.
I'm sure there's still some dirt in the crooks and crevises but the caked on stuff around the engine/transmission/steering linkage & hydraulics all is gone. floor pans look new and differential assy looks pretty good too. I'm sure it's still got some funk well hidden but over all, it looks much better than when I left it. Cost was $150.00.
Unfortunately, some of it ended up in the top side of the engine compartment... nothing bad, but another trip over to the local car wash will be in order tomorrow morning.
It'll probably really start leaking oil now.

Nice job, well done..! I'm gonna use the Mother's mini ball and liquid polish to buff up my stock al.wheels..on my '78..I already did the 3M wet-sanding on the few rim nicks I had after 38 years..Takes time..but worth the elbow grease!.Wheels and tires DO really set off a well done car!...Jim

Finally got in the rest of my order from Willcox including replacement 10ohm dash speakers to go with the original stereo radio I bought to install in place of the aftermarket one. The speakers needed quick connectors unlike factory originals from 73. Thankfully the later speakers I had from a 79 still had their wiring and it had the same connectors that I needed. A bit of wire and some quick disconnects from advanced auto and about 15 minutes and I had a replacement speaker harness wired up. Tested it out in the car and all is good. This means I can finally get my dash put back together.
