What did you do to your C3 today?
Instructor
Yesterday I picked up the Headers from Sanderson’s and the ceramic coating came out beautiful.
I got them installed and ordered a new set of Remflex gaskets and ARP header bolts.
My new AllStar 1 1/2” drop base air cleaner arrived today and I checked the fitment.
I also received the AllStar flat top air cleaner lid which would allow me to run a 4” element and still have the same hood clearance.
I like the domed lid better and I’ll probably stick with it.
The Lokar throttle cable bracket came in so I removed the aluminum one I had and fit checked the Lokar that looked much better.
Tomorrow the L88 drop base will arrive and I’ll check the drop of it and see how it looks and if it clears all the throttle linkage.

I’m very interested in those tubular A arms. Can you share a bit more details on those? Where did you get them from? Price? Fitment issues?
Thanks

Tried to Fire up the 72 after sitting for 1.5 years.
Carb floats were stuck, engine flooded.
Let it sit for 5 hours.
Started and running like crap. Still very rich, as expected.
Will let it sit till tomorrow, it should be fine then. Normal routine with the stock 72 and 67.
Yearly routine, they sat longer due to my cancer treatments.
The 71 with the Edelbrock started and ran fine. As usual.

installed my hard to find LF bolts that hold down the air cleaner base.
Removed the old original gas tank and installed the NOS tank.

The L88 drop base air filter arrived today from Corvette Central.
It was a full 2.0 inch drop base and excellent quality.
For anyone wondering, it will not fit a double pumper 4150 4 barrel.
Even if I removed the air pipe to clear the accelerator pump, the base contacted the float adjustment screws on top of the bowls and the carburetor linkage.
I would need to remove the air pipe, and install a 3/16” spacer between the carburetor and the base to give me enough clearance, which really defeated the purpose of the additional drop.
The other issue would require me to install at least a 5” element so the lid would give adequate clearance for the air vent tubes.

They are set up for semi coil over shocks and are also available for full coil overs.
I purchased them about seven years ago when I started collecting parts for my body off restomod build.
My set were the prototype set and first set developed.
Check Van Steel’s website for their current pricing.
They are awesome and I would buy them again.

OCB, just looking at these most recent pictures. Is that carb sitting on a really thick spacer? And if so, why?

Basically it helps deliver the air fuel mixture into the cylinders.
My engine builder recommends using them for better performance.
There has been many discussions, threads and dyno runs to support the theory.
We dyno tuned the engine with two different 1” spacers.
One was open and one was a four hole spacer.
The four hole produced a little more torque low end and the open made more torque mid range.
Its only a few ft lbs so probably nothing you would feel in the seat of your pants dyno test.
The second reason I run it, is to raise the carb up to keep the fuel a little cooler in the carb to possibly help prevent any vapor lock issues.
There were several times I experienced slow starts do to slight vapor lock with my stock set up.
If I have any hood clearance issues I can easily switch to a 1/2” spacer or even remove it all together if I need to.

Received my first round of new suspension components in the mail today.
New Moog idler arm, smart strut kit with adjustable strut rods, 1 1/8” front sway bar, and 5/8” offset rear sway bar.
But instead of playing with any of that I’ll be continuing on my engine bay detailing. The evaporator box is one bolt away from coming out, the delete plate is ready to go in, then several hundred hours of sanding while the snow falls on top of my head.
Should be a fun day.
