So, about 10 days ago I got the dreaded tach bounce in my 78 Pace Car. Determined that it was a defective tach filter and ordered one from a vendor on this site. It came in the mail today and I installed it which took all of 10 minutes. (Ez-Pz) Problem now solved, no more bouncing tach needle.
Experienced the dreaded "Bleeder Valve Snap-Off" on my right front caliper.
Snapped off during a re-build, and left only less than 1/8" of threaded shaft exposed.
Any advice on how to extract the rest of it that is down in in the caliper hole???
Just ordered a whole rebuild kit (O-Rings and Braided lines, etc.), so it would stink to have to go ahead and order an entire caliper replacement, with new pistons, seals, and all.

you can drill and tap it out .its not hard but does take time or you can exchange the caliber with auto zone.i got back one that looked exactly like what I took off and they were life time warranty
Still removing parts (bagging and taggin) from the engine bay so we can paint. Sure hope we can get this crazy puzzle back together! The previous owner made some hard to explain "mods" making it more challanging to figure it all out.

Pulled the intake so I can install the Edelbrock. I'm still taking a long time because of stubborn bolts and anything that I'm reusing goes in a tank of cleaner and will then be painted.
Replaced an aftermarket choke coil on my '81 quadrajet with an OEM I found on ebay. Works like a charm! I tried two so called replacements that really only worked so-so over the past 10 years.

Replaced both headlight relays today. The mounting screws on one side broke. I tried to drill them out but just broke the drill bits and easy outs. Ended up drilling bigger holes and tapping new threads to install. So another simple job turns into hours of work. Murphy's Law strikes once again.
I went to town and filled up with ethanol free premium at $2.85 per gallon. Also picked up new wiper refills. Got caught in a rain shower last weekend and noticed the old blades were shot.
Good lookin car mineolajoe. Just took first test drive on new clutch,rebuilt muncie and diff service. You can tell the tranny needs broke in alittle and i may need to tweak clutch but ole black betty drove out well. Gonna ease it along to break in clutch and stash it for the winter. I may do some rinky dink stuff while we wait for spring. Ima new vette owner... this **** never ends does it. Ha!!

Thanks! You're right, Slickwilly it never ends. I'm too old to do my own heavy work but there is a guy in our club who is a real expert on all models of Corvettes. He replaced my clutch, pinion seal and heater core a while back. I took care of the fuel pump and carb rebuild. Here in east Texas we don't have to park 'em in the winter, just wait for a sunny day ... and there are usually plenty.
I've done all those things you listed, im beginning to see a pattern here. lol. Im alot slower now then when I turned wrenches back in the day. I think I lose all my time just getting up off my creeper. Haha. Drove from Ohio to the southern most tip of texas one time, no sleep stops. Cant do that anymore either. Awesome country though.
I received an e-mail that someone had added a comment to this thread so I logged in to see what's going on.
There was an advertiser asking something about trying their "bra"... no, not one for the car.
My wife and daughter saw that and asked what I was doing checking out a bra.
It seems that some of the advertisers don't do such a good job of targeting their audience.
BTW, I'm still working on that fiberglass with the gobs of adhesive and resin. What a mess.

I received my new wheels, Superlite's by Vintage Wheels. 15" X 8", 4" backspacing. They are flawless. Opened the boxes and three wheels had silver centers as I ordered them and one had the orange center. I called Vintage Wheels and they found the correct wheel sitting on the shelf of their shipping department. They apologized ten times for their error and had my wheel taken immediately to FED-Ex. I received an email with the shipping confirmation and a tracking number within five minutes and they even shipped it priority and it'll be on my front door step Saturday morning. I was shocked by the excellent customer service.

I've been looking at the rally wheels and the alloy that's similar. Lot's of decisions and I haven't even put the fiberglass front on the frame yet.
