Drifting
These past few days have been spent removing the rear bumper cover and stripping the paint of the rear section of the car in preparation for bodywork and a new fiberglass bumper cover in the 80-82 style. I'm still considering installing a 1970 Dodge Charger fuel door. We shall see.
Still have to finish striping the right quarter.

Banging my head on the wall
Simple stuff. No engine builds, frame off restorations or the like.
A forum member pointed out that my valve covers were on the wrong sides. Once noticed it bothered me but was easily fixed for about $13 with a pair of rubber Fel Pro gaskets - installed dry as recommended.
I took the time to work them over on a buffing wheel and got everything all nice & shiny. Warmed up and seemed fine. Then not far from home the driver’s side gasket slipped and made a burning hellified mess all over everything. I don’t think I tightened them up enough. Looked like the Red Baron just shot me down.
Then just for fun it dieseled annoyingly as I went to shut it off, telling me I have more fiddling to do with idle speed and timing.
Got the mess in my brand new driveway cleaned up, got the cover back on, got the car back in the garage with a big cardboard diaper underneath.
Going to drink beer and stare off the deck with the dog for the rest of the afternoon…..

Safety Car
I got my Bow Tie Overdrives 200-4R onto the locator dowels and snugged down the bolts.
Re-bent the cooler lines and attached them.
Taking the rest of the day off.
I'll do the drive shaft, cross member and torque converter to flexplate bolts tomorrow.

That's a good looking car in a nice garage!
Those mugshots on the wall reminded me of the time Prince got nabbed in Jackson, MS for trying to steal the megaphone from a Delta airplane as he was flying into town for a show with Rick James.

I'm re-installing both rear bumpers on my '73. Just had them re-chromed at Librandi's.
I got 9 of the 10 bolts screwed in that hold them on, but one of the last bolts (the corner bolt that screws into the outer bracket) just will not cooperate. I even tried to loosen up the bolts that attach the outer bracket to the frame, but that doesn't help. That outer bracket is just not centered in the hole of the car body. It could possibly be the bolt itself, but it doesn't look stripped to me.
Any ideas?

Yesterday I started removing the weatherstripping from the pass side t top. Just like when I started the driver side t top months ago the sky decided to drop a few drops of rain on me as I ripped into the job. Someone up there must like messing with Corvette owners

Melting Slicks
I was bored and it was too cold to work in the garage so.....
I started totalling up a list of things I have done to my '70 coupe since I bought it in Oct 2012. The list is now over 100 items never in my imagination did I think I was going to get this deep into a car considering it was a runner and road worthy when I got it.

Don't ever do that! Seeing how much you've spent can lead you to harm yourself! Put down the spreadsheet and back away slowly!
