Sent my 68 roadster restomod off to the hot rod shop to pull the Hooker Super comp headers and side pipes to Jet-Hot. They are 7 years old and are now gray, want the high gloss polished look back.
While there told them to replace the cheesy chrome M/C with a polished Wilwood...oh, and putting a nice (really nice) set of Billet Specialties valve covers on.

Last night, I noticed the seam on the tops of the seat were splitting quite a bit. So I grabbed a curved needle and heavy duty thread and stitched them back closed.
They aren't real pretty, but they will do until I'm ready to put on the new seat covers.
I was also trying to track down a short. I think it is a short. It seems when the lights are on, I get a momentary discharge every few minutes of about 5 to 10 amp on the gauge and the headlights dim. Then it all goes to charge about the same amount and settles back to zero. I've looked all over, pulled on all the harnesses, had a voltmeter hooked up looking for a drop in voltage, and can't find it.
I'm almost thinking that the voltage regulator may be bad or need adjusting. Remember, this is a '68 with the mechanical regulator like the '63 to '67.

I went to a Cars & Coffee in Ocala this morning over at Kmart on Silver Springs Blvd. before church. I had a good time and saw a lot of cars, almost two wrecks, and a lot of people trying to show how strong their cars are when they left.
Hey, everyone there was capable of the same thing, big deal. So why bother with the antics that might get us thrown out?

You might try taking the regulator out and removing the cover to get inside. With about 400 grit sandpaper sand the coils to get rid of the burrs from arcing. That's what I used to do with the old regulators ,but it is merely a band aid. If the points are badly burnt you'll probably have to spring for a new regulator. Unless you're a purist I'd put the headlights on relays. BTW, nice Vette.
I'm thinking that about the regulator. I haven't touched it in a long time and probably that is the issue. Thanks!

I replaced my half-missing emergency brake plastic accordion strip/door thingy on the center console. Now that this critical milestone had been reached (whew!), maybe I can figure out how to fix my non-OP turn-signal issue!

I finally was able to move extra shipping boxes around enough to catch up on a years work with the garage, since Winter is on it's way. Parts are temporarily put on the walls to allow room to work on the car.
Since the brake booster failed and my back is still untreated I had to use plan B to get the car into the garage. I was concerned that the toe/tow strap would fail, but it held up!
Don't cha' just love the way the hardtop can be lowered and raised with an electric winch (per the ideas of expert members....I think I burned the clutches in the tow vehicle/it was smoking pretty good by the time I pulled the car earward a foot or so to line up with the hardtop hanging from the ceiling....
It's an optical illusion, but I have about 10 feet in front of the car once all the spare boxes are placed in the loft..........................
I have enough room to roll the wheel chair on both sides of the car as I do repairs. It doesn't get much better (on Earth ) unless my back gets better....... .......

Jealous, I'm working, but it's Friday and it will be in the upper 60's here all weekend, with clear blue, sunny skies. Have a blast.

Ordered some air cleaner to throttle body gaskets for my "new" "82 (that was delivered 2 days ago). Going over her with a fine toothed comb to see what she needs to get her running perfectly (Idle is a little high). Can't post pics...@ work...

Burning Brakes
Spent most of the weekend on housework but I did replace the chrome pieces on my convertible deck lid and the plastic centering grommets for the front of the convertible top.
