I fixed a sticking door lock on the passenger side. Both sides were almost impossible to lock and unlock from either the inside or the outside. Both are working good now with some lube. I also fixed an issue where the passenger side outside door handle would not open the door. Just a quick adjustment of the linkages and it is working good now. I have the car in the shop right now getting a 4-wheel alignment. Obvious camber issues with the left rear wheel and the car wandered a bit when driving so I'm hoping the alignment will fix all of that.
It's kinda relieving to know that there are so many other people doing the exact same thing as me right now... hahahaha I had no idea...

My new polished, tall valve covers arrived from Teague Custom Marine today, boxed and up on the shelf.
Picked up my new Mk IV 454, 4 bolt main block, virgin, with standard bore. Magged, cleaned, tanked, Machine shop ran a .020 over sized bore though the cylinders, checked the decks and all bearing services.
They sprayed it with Cosmoline, sealed it in a bag and I brought it home.
I tried and failed to use those same tall aluminum valve covers on my '73 big block because of my roller rockers. The problem was that the passenger side cover was only about 1/4" away from the A/C box. It certainly would have hit once the motor torqued over under load. I ended up with stock height covers with an extra thick gasket.

I installed new valve cover gaskets on my '71 LS5, the last time I changed them was in the early 80's. Really surprised how clean everything looked under the valve covers, rocker arms, etc. Also installed a new Genie belt drive garage door opener on the Vette garage door....the old Stanley chain drive was showing her age.

Thanks, but I’m planning to replace the oem a/c for vintage air so the clearance on the passenger side won’t be an issue.
Went to Cars and Coffee this morning. It was "supposed" to be in the upper 40's this morning so I put the hardtop on for the first time in seven years. I love the way it looks I just wish It offered one more inch of headroom.

Yesterday took the intake manifold and carb off've the L48 for use on the new motor. Today, will be cleaning up the manifold and painting it (pretty clean on the inside for a 44 year old motor, that I've flogged on for five years!), NAPA Gold Filters (Wix in disguise) and 5/30 Syn Oil, keeps it that way.
I made an idler pulley to space out the alt belt from hitting my crank support bracket. It’s not prettied up yet but it fits and moved the belt out exactly what I needed
Cleaned the plastic coolant recovery tank(74 coupe). Soaked the tank in hot water and LA’s Awesome cleaner, scrubbed with a brush then used LemiShine and hot water inside the tank. The LemiShine broke up the rust and scale coating leaving the inside clean and rust free. I have used LemiShine for years as a pre soak for dirty brass cases, soaking and then a good rinse before tumbling, it removes a ton of crud and saves tumbling time. If not familiar with LemiShine, it’s a powdered citrus cleaner, can be found with the dishwasher soap at Walmart, it’s marketed as a dishwasher additive.

I was in the basement garage cleaning up-another rainy weekend and I had enough leftover parts to build a motorcycle!
Then I started finishing up the rear compartment -
Got the fuel pumps wired- then polished out the rollbar. It was in the car when I bought in 1981- and I'm guessing its chromemoly. Started out with 320- then 600 - 800 to 1500. Then some Mothers Wheel polish. I'm happy with how it turned out.
Then I was lamenting the fact that the light in the back of the compartment sux...In my 73 on several long trips-every time there was anything- like a set of folding chairs- overnight bag- you could NOT see as the light was covered- worthless!!!
So- LED rope lights- cut to size and some aluminum u-channel. . It'll mount right under the rear lip- only a 1/4" revels past the lip- just had to bend - tweek a little bit to fit nice and tight.
Polished the inside channel and sprayed the outside black. Not dry yet- I'll get a picture of it mounted and working- I just used a 9V battery to test- very efficient!!! Should light up the whole compartment with ease.

Tried to start back on dash and found the passenger side eyeball vent and the two small upper vents of the center dash are broke, sooo i just ordered all new vents and now im back waiting
oh, and said to hell with it and ordered all the rest of the lights in LED except headlights
I moved the C3, the C5 and my truck out of the garage while the cracked skylights were being replaced. Might take the C3 out for some exercise later. It’s a crisp 39° this morning.

The new skylights are clear and the old ones were just translucent, although it’s hard to tell in this photo.
Lots more light during the day now.
