Default 1971 LS6 Engine Dyno Results!

Hey Guys,
Figured I would share my results of my fresh engine build for my 71 454.

I used the original block with LS6 square port heads, and LS6 intake. Holley 850 double pumper. Heads were rebuilt, engine was 0.30 over. Around 10.2:1 CR.
Roller tip rockers, Hydraulic cam as well

On the engine dyno it made 425hp and 496lb-ft of torque.
The torque was already at 480lb-ft by 2800RPM which is a very low RPM for square port heads! - Very excited as many people told me I needed round ports to achieve this!

Huge improvement to the tired LS5 that was it in when I got it a few months ago!

should be a great street engine. Pump gas (premium I'd think) but should be able to light up the tires anytime you want.

That will be a fun engine, just try not to break the drivetrain.

Thanks everyone!
I am very excited.
Working on restoring it right now so i won't get to enjoy the engine for a little while, but once it is in it should be fun!

Very cool.

Stock cam?

Probably way too late, but if that was my engine, I would have used a moderate hydraulic roller cam and picked up another 100 hp, with stock drivability.

The OP is my son.

He's been brought up around corvettes and muscle cars his whole life.

Helped me to restore a 65 corvette, and a few other cars. We learned together, and are still learning as we go.

This 71 is his....I am helping him to restore it but he calls the shots....and pays the bills

Pretty impressive for a 21 year old who is in university full time.

His friends are into newer cars, like mustangs, but he has always been into the old time muscle cars, especially corvettes. Rare for today's kids.

Needless to say I am very proud of him

As you should be. Kids like him are the future of the hobby. All that torque is going to get his friends attention.

Sorry for bringing back an old post, but where in Toronto did you get your engine dynoed?
Thanks

The engine was dynoed at the same place who built it. Competition Autmotive in Richmond Hill.
They dynoed it to get me some numbers but also broke in the cam for me.

It's actually not even in the car yet. Ended up doing a frame off so the engine is sitting on the chassis.

Without that big fresh air box and stock exhaust manifolds, how would that translate to rear wheel horsepower? Are you going to use stock manifolds or headers?
