[QUOTE=Kubs;1592243380]Looks good! Where did you get those '68-'69 side gills? I want to covert my '71 like that too.[/QUOT

They came with the fender flares that I put on. I have recently seen some on Fleebay though.

Richard,

I plan on power tour and cruising the coast this year. May not have the C3 ready for June but will bring the C6. I'm having the C3 at cruising the coast in October come hell or high water. I actually started wet sanding the clear coat tonight. Ready to get er done. How did you make out with the motor trouble last year??

Had to get one from the back. 275's look small inside the 4 inch flares.

You could always buy some 2" spacers.

Spacers ain't gonna cut it, brother. You need some 12" wide rims.

I've been looking for my future flare project and the least expensive I've found are CCW, a division of Weld Wheels. Their 3-piece rim sets are in the $3,400 range. I also looked into an absolutely STUNNING set of custom 3-piece rims with Strasse Wheels. They do Forum members right and offered a highly optioned set for around $4,600.

Then you get tires. Mo money.

But the look is unquestionably awesome. Can't do it with stock rims, I'm afraid.

I've been looking for 12 inch wide wheels. There is going to be nothing inexpensive in the wheel department. Don't know if I will go 17 inch or 18 inch X 12 wide. Keith, you have a link for the CCW's.

Was thinking about some spacers for a temp fix till I commit to wheels and tires. Anything to make the rear look less awkward for now. I don't push the car, but its my understanding that spacers are not good on the bearings.

Billet Specialties will build you wheels in any width or backspace you want for about $1200 a set.....
I ordered a set for a 4' Chevy truck I built and they were $1750 with tires.....
Of course this was 15" stuff.......but IMHO...the 15" stuff looks vintage with the flares.....
Your call sir.....

Jebby, I was going to paint a metallic dark red and do the new age resto-mod on 17 or 18's. The 15 inch wheels limit tire width selection from what I've seen so far. However, I went with the more traditional red color. I have to admit, I'm leaning towards a race replica on 15's. Can't go wrong with something like this. I assume they are 15's

The car sits a little high in the front for me so back at it. I pulled the springs out and cut 1 ring off. Lost about 1 inch, but have not driven to let it settle. Will be grabbing new front shocks and sway bar bushings tomorrow. My previously detailed inner fenders and destroyed from over spray. Not as bad as a job as I thought it was going to be. Will get a after shot tomorroew after driving to let it settle.

The front is dropped after cutting 1 ring off the front springs. Just need to drop the rear with longer bolts. I plan on a longer hood to cover the wiper tray. The original is cracked pretty bad In a few places on the underside also. I will run it for now though, so I re-shot it with hot rod black with matte clear coat. Hopefully get it back on the car tomorrow.

Hi RC, was reading your last post about the spring cutting. I assume by the red overs pray that you cut the bottom? It really does sit a lot better. Did you paint it? Have not read all of you thread yet.
Love the people who do their own thing. Really going to look cool when completed.

I am slightly envious...I say slightly only because after one full day of stripping the interior in mine, I am already nervous about reassembly. As with your car, my numbers don't match and the interior and exterior are not original colors either. I may go ahead and install some flares in a couple of years. I have my three year plan and paint and body is year 3.

Thanks RVZIO. I did cut the lower spring. The top seem to have less space between rings. Was worried 1 ring would not make much of a difference on the top. I did paint the car myself. I learned a lot of valuable lessons about bodywork along the way. I actually hung all the flared fenders and glassed the bonding strips in also. I have to fix one area on the drivers front fender where the bumper makes contact with the fender. Going to kill me to have to cut into freshly painted glass for the repair. I figure do it right with all that I have put into it this far.
