Default Interior trim code 414- bright or medium Blue?

For 1968 which is the correct description for interior trim code 414 "bright" or "medium" Blue. I have seen both utilized in reference material.

For 68, I think NCRS judging manual says 414 is medium blue vinyl. Ditto same for Corvette Black Book. 69 & 70 had a 411 Bright Blue. Some of the vendors have same color for all three, so it must be pretty close or the same shade.

BTW, how do you like your 68 so far? Great looking Corvette, wish I had your headrests on my 68 LeMans blue/medium blue convertible!

I didn't think 68's came with headrests...If I'm to be told they came with headrests, I'd think this was pretty rare.

To get headrests on my 68 Convertible was very involved. I had to buy, on eBay, 69 seat frames that came with provisions in the seat back for headrests. Next I had to buy the 69 headrests on eBay..the ones I bought were distressed and the wrong color...they were to be intended to be donors. I then sent the donors to Al Knoch who stripped them down, re-chromed them, and molded on new Medium Bright Blue using factory tooling for duplicate headrests. My 68 seats were completely rebuilt by Knoch using the 68 seat bottom frames and the 69 seat back frames. New foam..new leather. (My 68 Seats had originally come with a vinyl crossweave pattern on the bottoms and seat backs. (Al Knoch's leather seats have tiny punched hole like indentations..not the same thing but look OK for non-NCRS)

Car has not arrived yet, still waiting on check to clear. Just WTH good is a "certified funds" cashiers check anyway? (I might as well have just sent a god damn personal check.) I will get an update Monday on when the shipper (plycar) can pick it up.

The previous owner added the head rests when he redid the seats. How long have you had your 68?

Thanks for the info on the paint code!

Yep. Headrests were optional on the 68s. For 68 code 411 is dark blue; 414 is the lighter blue. The Blackbook calls 414 Medium Blue.

Yep, I hear you, I learned fairly recently from the last couple of Corvette trades that a "certified check" can be canceled by a buyer even a couple days after the buyer gives the check to the seller, Chase, no less, confirmed this. Check your bank and see what they say. I suppose that is why some sellers want green Benjamins. I refuse to deal cash like that.

Finally, decided to find a bank that has a notary, give the seller a certified or bank check in the banks name (not my name) to the seller at the bank and do the notarized transfer of title all at the same time. The seller could then cash the bank to seller check if they desired and then walk out the door with Benjamins. Obviously you have to do this in person.

Had my 68 about 8 months now, previous owner did a nice job rebuilding the rear end, I rebuilt the front end, clutch, ect, and a long list of misc stuff, hope to enjoy it now.

Good luck with the purchase, nice looking 68 Corvette!!!

BTW, yes I think headrests were an option for 68, A82, maybe a little more than 10% got them. Thanks and looks like some effort & coins to get headrests if you do not already have them.

I had a '68 coupe with International Blue exterior and the bright blue interior. I believe the interior color code was 414. According to the Black Book, 414 was Medium Blue. But, their was nothing 'medium' about it. It still was the very metallic looking light blue that was in the '69 cars....or very close to it. And, the car was only 5 years old, so the interior was still in very good condition. It had not been replaced.
