To be honest, the jury is still out on the Flares, I do like the idea of a wider meat on the rear but this L88 flare could just be a little too much for my overall design ... I have them taped to the rear and I'll see if they grow on me. Your .02 is always welcome, post up your best angles and lets have a good look the girl!

Thanks,

Yes. 17x9 full chrome rally wheels. They are all steel and heavy. I couldn't/can't afford the mini-light wheels just yet.

Well spring just went to full on summer today here in the Great White North, as is our way!
The car is moving slowly but still moving, over the winter I have tied up a few loose ends and discovered a few things about old side pipes. I ended up having to cut a longer slot in the side pipe in order to get it to release from the header, the rust was so developed inside it was just fused together. Once the slot was was extended I was able to wiggle the tube side to side and finally remove them, and its a good thing as the pipes did have serious rot and a tenant rooming house ... I'm 100% sure they arrived with it vacated.

So a quick call to Jegs and ...

I've been going over things and getting a look under the the car to finish off some incomplete chassis items like the sway bars, I have the rear one installed now but the front bushings and links are nowhere to be found. I have ordered replacements ... you know I'll find them after the new ones arrive!

So lets have a quick your under the car, please shout out if you see something that has you scratching your head ... sorry about the dust, it happens!

... and the beat goes on ...

Well things are moving along and I'm getting some of the systems back on line slowly. This passed weekend I have worked at restoring the electrical systems back to life, a complete rewire of the car using a 21 circuit modern harness was well worth the money and a must for any of these old girls. Anyhow I have made some additions and and modifications to the harness for some of the updated systems. I am so close to a start up ... it's getting exciting!

... and the beat goes on ...

7T2VETTE will recognize his HALO lighting modified into bubble lenses ALA 70's custom cool. One issue, the pin spot LED's used for the brakes have been discontinued, any ideas Bruce? Two of the bulbs have been shall we say compromised and I need replacements.

Mr Bats this shot is for you, this is the original 4x6 rectangle conversion ALA Ecklers tilt conversion, 70's sheik. Modern LED conversion 4x6's will be installed this weekend.

Hey Dave, things are coming along! I don’t think you can go wrong with some quality name-brand 1157 leds like these Phillips:

So I'm beginning to feel as if the car and I are living in WhoVille and the Grinch has payed us a visit! So I ask you, who does this ... I've been restoring the electrical this week and I have now come to the horn part of the program. Well its all wired up and the the big moment is upon us and ...... NADA, nothing, not a whisper, not a beep or a creep or a sound to be found! This is where the Grinch comes in, well it seems when I dismantled the horn button assembly well all the activation components from the ground tabs deep inside to the push bracket are missing, again WHO DOES THIS???? The good news, the horn works when you ground out the tabs, but without the push pin etc... no way to make it work, so if you have any of these parts available ....

Ok, on a good note the LED head lights are installed and wired and they are BRIGHT, no comparison to the old school 4x6 halogen sealed beams, here is a sneak peak.

Before ...

After ...

These lights are equipped with day lighters and I will show them in full operation when the clip is reinstalled after WHOO HOOOOO start-up ... fingers crossed, milestone moments.

... and the beat goes on ...

Dave

Moving right along ... and taking a real stab at turning a wheel before the snow flies, I have been wrapping up the wiring and working through the rad/fan shroud and into the motor ...

So right now I'm in the middle of the quicky home alignment, this week I've filled all the fluids with the exception of fuel ... I'll save that for start up. The distributor will be next though I have primed the engine oil pressure looks solid. The one issue I did run into was the throttle cable, it seems that when I updated to the 200r4 trans I had to update the bracket to accommodate the TV cable and to be honest I must have overlooked the factory throttle cable holder ... no clue what happened to it!! So what I did was I made one, I'm a control guy at work so I added a little control guy to the car and it works like a charm.
Start up ... its getting closer and closer ... and the beat goes on ...

Dave

Thanks Roger, I have been moving through things quickly and admittedly not always photo documenting ... just trying to push for start up but there is always one more item on the list!

Thanks for following along.

Well I did a big write up on what happened to the rear of the car but it was wiped out for some reason, needless to say I am in the process of fixing it. I also have been removing layers and layers upon layers of paint that in hindsight I should have done while it was on the dolly, in my defense I was going to ship it to a body shop, but with all the body repair and alignment and some inspirational threads from members on this Forum such as David Howard, Roger (RVZIO) and DUB just to name a few, I thought what the heck!!!!

... and the beat is still going ....

Dave
