That custom Vette is the kind of crap we used to love when we were kids. We would go to the New York Coliseum in Manhattan back in the 70s and check out all the customs with graphic paint jobs, velour interiors with TVs and bars and 8-track stereo systems. Those customs are partly the reason why I fell in love with Vettes back them. They weren't my moms Plymouth Fury 1! Man they looked so cool. Head turners for sure. Styles change every day. No more wild customs like those of the 70s. But you have to agree...they were so much fun to look at back then.

Hahaha... I kinda like it. But I dig the "Corvette Summer" phase of the C3s as opposed to being horrified by them. It's just such a throwback!

Still a cool car!!! But realistically the paint would need to be redone, therefore the current scheme value is in reference only. If purchased as a time capsule then it should remain the same otherwise, I can't imagine the cost of that repair of course you have to include the cost of the good mind altering drugs to get in the zone lol

While I wouldnt be surprized if there was lots of shill, sport and other non sense bidding going on and I also believe this is a car built with custom parts like motion sold I doubt it is an inhouse motion built car and the only motion cars that fetch high dollars have documentations this car isnt worthless.

I believe when you get past people dissing it just because the thing will likely sell for north or 10K.
Customs do not always kill resale, would a tired base model 69 coupe needing like this car a full restoration fetch as much and gotten anywhere near the attention and dupe posts this car has received....

We love our C3's - and we do LOVE them - because they are cool and often (very often according to Hagerty Insurance survey data) attract U.S. based on memories of our younger, formative years. With me? Hagerty says most are. So, I don't particularly care what anyone thinks, a custom car - especially a 'salad' looking thing like this - was designed for the private owner's tastes and I'm not going to pretend that I would shell out my hard earned money for someone else's expressive taste. I think some of the custom C3's are just ugh-buttly and respect their owner's taste - but, there's very little chance I would buy someone else's personal statement or pretend I would.
Most of us grew up seeing mostly stock cars are were awed by the cars and their confident, aspirational owners of the time. Custom cars were not quite as common, and sometimes a mixture of tasteful... and, Bubba.

I grew up seeing far more modded c3's even c2's than stock, I would yawn by a row of cookie cutter clones, so while I agree that customs reflect the builders ideas of the perfect c3 and the person who will buy another persons dream car sometimes is more limited than stock they are still not worthless....and even a car painted like a dog puked up skittles excites me more than just another plain old stock one

This looks like a Vette that I knew as a small kid from Laurel Maryland. (Late 70's/Early 80's) A friend of my dad's owned a showcar then, it was the "Cactus Vette". It had that green & gold metalflake paint scheme. My memory of the car is a bit fuzzy, as I was only around 5 yrs. Old at the time, so almost 40 yrs. Ago. My dad & the vette owner were in a car club then called "Injectors of Maryland". They had big car shows at Timonium fairgrounds in Timonium Md. I sent pics to my dad & he's pretty sure that is the one his friend owned.

It may be. I'm trying to find out if my dad has any old pics of the vette his friend had. Not sure if it's the same car or not. When I saw this picture, my brain just went," that's the old cactus vette" immediately. Then i clicked on the rest of the story & pics & saw it had cactus on it. Maybe I'm just kinda hoping on a childhood memory. Lol
