hey David, wish I was in Va., I would come up and learn with you. All looks great. Just finished looking at a video on the wheels that make the bendpak lift moveable. Pretty cool.
Carry on!

Hey buddy, good to hear from you. I have two Bendpacks and I do have a set of those wheels that allow you to move them. Not the easiest item to move but they are movable. When I paint my garage floor this fall I will be using them to move the lifts out of the bay being painted, then move them back when completed. Probably take me most of the month of October to complete it but it needs to be done.
Hope you are doing well.
David

Great work David.
I'm a new member but have been on CF for a while. I followed your build of sparty and was simply amazed.
Do you still have sparty ?
Thanks
Andy

I can only assume you are wrapping it similar to your recently updated profile picture? I can't wait to see it done!

The avatar is the 1968 L-88 Dow Fiberglass race car. I am using the same design criteria but I have not selected the final color scheme yet. The process for wrapping the car is as follows:

First the car will be wrapped completely in white to put on the "base" color of the car.
The car is then dimensioned and the design is outlined on the white for photographs.
Once that is completed a template of my car will be made and computer generated artwork can be developed. The dark color (not yet chosen) can then be changed on the computer simulator and I can see conceptually what each might look like finished on the car.
From those graphics I will chose the final design and have the car wrapped with the final design.
The car number would be included in the second layer of film, the number "72" has been selected to be unique to this car.
The final layer, layer three, will contain graphics that don't need to be permanent to the car such as suppliers that have assisted me with the build. Those will be a material that is easier to remove.
One point of note is the material can be made permanent by applying a clear coat over the graphics if the owner wishes. Haven't made that decision yet, soon, but not yet.
Thanks for asking.

Seems almost a shame to me to cover it when it looks so killer in black, but I am biased a little that way... I'm sure it will look awesome though, can't wait to see it!

I hear that a lot actually but if you saw the paint up close you would agree it needs to be covered. It could just as easily be covered in gloss black wrap as well but I am going for a race car replica look, so the black gloss is only a layer to hold the wrap in place.

But I do hear what you are saying.

We will be extending the wrap to the back edge of the clear lenses for the light covers so the light fixtures wont be visible when the lens covers are in place. That will happen this week as well. Now we dimension the car to make a template and begin the graphic design layout.

Wrapping a car in a single color is much less tedious then what we are doing with the racer, but printed graphics should look great on the finished car.

More soon.
