David, how about getting rid of the tray, but keeping the removable window as long as you have good access to it with the roll bar. I pulled my tray out but always run with the rear window out. Saves some weight lol!

David,
Even though I'm sure it is a little frustrating that it seems like you have to go backwards to go forward, you are definitely doing the right thing. And that's why this car will be so incredible when you get it finished, because you did it the "right" way. Kudos to you. Just a small bump in the road. I. Have already PM'ed you regarding the body lift. Keep soldiering on! Looking forward to seeing you and the car again soon.

It's a great afternoon at work when I can spend it catching up on this thread! I haven't been on here since mid October. The car looks awesome!

Morning wake-up profile photographs.
Just because I can.
Work on the road racer has been halted for the next two weeks as I prepare for a trip out of town to visit a new friend, make an important delivery, attend a Carlisle Winter event, attend a series of Dayton NASCAR races, and generally try to have some fun in the sun.
Be back on the car and lifting the body in early March.
Until then stay warm, stay dry, stay engaged in your projects and stay safe.
See ya back here before I know it.

With the colder temperatures out in the garage I decided to put my attention on the interior parts for the racer. (I'll apologize in advance for any oversized, blurry, or lousy pictures).
Radio delete will be used as I wouldn't be able to hear anything but the sweet thunder of the engine anyway.
Center console is almost done, I need to find a plate to use at the bottom of the console insert. Any suggestions welcomed.
Emergency brake console is complete now. I put the mounting screws underneath and taped in place so I can find them when I need them.
I tried to pan out a little to get the whole console in the picture, sorry for a near duplicate picture.
Lower left dash with Autometer gauges in place, still needs some detail cleaning before installation and wiring to get them ready.
I am using small green LED lights for my turn signals.
These are the parts I have yet to finish but I am getting much closer now. I love that I am working on finished interior pads, makes me feel like the end is at least in sight, soon as the snow thaws. LOL.
Some extra parts slipped into the picture. Those will be finished and then sold off at a later time.
I have interior pads to sell off as well now that I have all that I need for the racer, more on that in the for sale section later.
Next up will be wiring the backs of the gauges, but not today.
Thanks for following along.

Lift Preparation
Ready for lift.
I moved the gantry crane from the center bay of my garage to position it over my working lift.
I removed the cover and then lowered the car and removed the hood. It is downstairs now safe and sound, here is a shot of it to see the graphics.
I raised the car again and positioned the gantry crane over the center section where the lift will take place. Note the blue straps to the front. Those are supporting straps for the nose. They attach to the radiator support to offer support to the nose when the body is removed. You will see the four driver side body mount bolts have been removed and are sitting behind the front wheel on the lift now. Same is true on the passenger side.
The roll bar has been marked and removed. It will be drilled and installed on the frame when the body is off to make that install a bunch easier.
To make the lift I am working on my "donor" chassis to have a safe resting place for the body while I work further on the chassis of the racer. The donor is a 1969 which is my focus at this time. I want a good resting spot for the racer and I know this will be a better substitute than a wooden body dolly. I'll be working on the chassis today. Top and sides of chassis rail will be cleaned, sanded, and primed before the racer is mated to it.
More will follow soon. Thank you for following along and have a great week.
Best regards,
David Howard

Snow thaw? Oh no no. Mother nature is working in reverse. Maybe we will luck out and get Spring again next week. This week though, yikes. The car is beautiful though. Great work.

Temporary storage chassis in progress. Old side pipe brackets have been removed and surface grinding of the welds nearly completed. Chassis will be media blasted next week, then primer coated to protect from rust before being used to house the racer body while I work on the engine, fuel lines, and roll bar.
Best body dolly I know of it an actual C-3 chassis.
I am working on making some custom lift straps for the body lift, more on that soon when I prove out the proof of concept.
Thanks for watching.
