Today is the day the funds are to arrive for the sale of the Road Race Replica.
Gordon is working with me now to get the power steering; hydraulic clutch; electronic fuel injection set up on the car and get it test driven.
Videos will be taken and shared upon completion of the test drive.
Crating has been taking place and is not yet completed, but will be soon.
Will share more when I have more to share but this one is moving along nicely now.
Thank you.
David

I got excited at the first start up and run and said "Its Alive" in the video. Sorry.

And here is Gordon with the first shake down run on the street in front of my house.
It is now capable of running under its own power. The power steering Rack Attack rack and pinion is smooth and helps turn those big tires just fine.
Idle setup will be the final step for this work, then we will put the hood back on the car.
Congratulations goes out to Gordon, a wizard with the classic Corvettes.
Thanks for watching.

David,
I must have missed a post or two. Why are you selling this? The last we spoke you were planning to bring it to Carlisle next year.

Nice to finally get behind the wheel of this and move it under its own power. I spent a lot of time on this and to finally get it going was great. Certainly not done but it moves. I would have gotten into it more and see what it really would do but the car is sold and is the possession of someone else. Our job was to get it moving under its own power. Hopefully everyone enjoyed this car and build.

Thanks to all for your comments and support. When the 72 road racer replica ships it will be the passing of the baton from one enthusiast to another. The car is heading to a great new home for finishing and fun.
Yesterday I had my third ultrasound and unfortunately I am still not cleared of my issues so my building ability and activities will remain severely diminished through the fall and heading into winter. Who would have known that breaking a foot in March would be so problematic. I will use the cooler weather to clean up my garage; clean up my basement; and prepare the 2017 Corvette (4,600 miles) and the old 2005 350Z (28,000 miles) for their winter storage.
I will be taking an active roll in our local Corvette Club beginning in 2019 and I hope to put the same energy and enthusiasm towards the club that I have put into the builds.
For now the builds are done. 77 red is in Chicago now. 77 orange is in Missouri now. 71 Green is in Harrisburg now. And 72 Racer is heading to Germany.
If you have never built an export crate then here is the one I built for the extra tires, wheels, and totes filled with parts heading with the car to Germany. It was a new experience for me and one that I believe turned out pretty well. Ready for shipment now.
Thanks again for following along and I wish you all the best of success in your builds.
Best regards,
David Howard

Beautiful car gone. Bummer.
Odd thread with closures, deletions, and... many problems to overcome. Reminds me to stay stock based in various areas.
Very interesting thread though - sorry you didn't get to see its completion for the amount of time put in.
Keep after your health!

Like the philosophical way about. I'm sure the $$ helped and your health is at the top of the list, for sure. And the initial drive had to be a load off!
With such a passionate build you documented, just passing the baton is, well... just your journey I guess!
And I think I get it - just a builder turning a car without aspiration for the ownership (all in the build, as they say).
All good AllVettes4Me. It was a good journey for us forum members too. Your car has been inspiration for me included, helping give direction for the road racer wannabe my car will be. ...A little street, a little race, a little 1/4 mile, a little autocross, a little weekend car show, but mostly a Sunday driver for the wife and I!
Your Vette is ready for all that too. Cheers!

Wow David, even the crate is beautiful!!! I hope your health continues to improve. As much as we love these cars, and I consider them therapy in a way, your health is by far most important!!!! Ike
