David...
The more I see those rims with the black powder coated section, the more I am liking them for my 2nd project.
Txs for the inspiration as usual.....

Houston, we have engine ignition.
Second of two successful tests conducted today on the 72 Road Shark.
Video shows Gordon Mudge at the controls of the starter and throttle control while I operate the fuel and spark controls and video equipment.
I hope you enjoy seeing this as much as I enjoy being able to show it to you.
Hurdle accomplished. Time to put the body back on the chassis.

Engine 20 minute break-in will take place with the body back on the chassis so this Saturday I will be dropping the body back where it belongs. Between now and Saturday I will get everything ready to go for the successful reuniting of the body and chassis.
Time to get the landing site ready.
More soon.

David asked me when I arrived what are the chances of getting it running. I said 99%. Why not 100%? was his question. I said I always leave room for something happening, you know Murphys law?? Well it was a good start. After we got the starter figured out and the Distributor set in correctly and wired up we pushed it outside. Even though this is the second start the first one went just as well but the camera man was so excited I guess he forgot to push the GO button and we had no video. So we let it cool a little and refired it. I have done many initial start ups but it is always a rush to get one of these fired up and with open headers its even better. It sounded way better in person. Everything went smoothly, except for the sacrificed coffee cup that was left on the fuel tank. It had one last wild ride on the vibrating fuel tank. I have another video on my phone from the back of the car. The camera was on a large full garbage can but you can see the vibration and concussion from the exhaust just making havoc with the surrounding area. I actually think we may have blown the coffee cup off the fuel tank. That thing pushes a lot of air. I'll try and upload the video to you tube and post it. Davids hard work and persitance has paid off and now he is on his way.
Here is the video I took with my phone.
