Mine will be for sale at some point, just need to get it finished and enjoy the 2018 show season in it first. Come to Carlisle, I am promising rides at that show.

I suggest you consider posting a wanted to buy thread showing your interest in cars so others here that may be building and selling their cars can connect with you directly. Many guys are building cars here but not as many are publishing their work openly here on the Corvette Forum. When you do publish this way you are subject to correction and criticism but it is what you do to help the community build a car along with you. If you want to know what went into a build you either have to know the builder; follow a build thread; or trust their information.

I'm building this one to play with and not to sell right away but I do appreciate the compliment.

Thanks for posting and have a great week.

I am not presently looking to buy a car. Just sold one (restored high end street car) and in the process of building 2 (high end race cars) and enjoying the extra shop space right now to finish those....

I do enjoy threads like this to ponder what I really want when these 2 are done and pretty sure it will be a C3 street car in one form or another(preferably finished!). After seeing your thread and some others like this it, I will search for a road race replica like yours when the time comes. Now I'm not asking you to sell yours, but I do appreciate all the hard work you put in and a thread like this would give me security to buy the car "sight unseen". Just bank transfer and arrange shipping. But that was not the intent of my post....

After your post about coming to Carlisle though, I have to say I thought about that yesterday while tinkering on mine and didn't realize you lived so close to me (Hunterdon Co, NJ) and thought I DO have to attend Carlisle this year! It may seem weird to you, but after reading your thread I feel like I know you, and would like to shake your hand and view your beauty first hand. I do believe a car is an expression of the owner.... Apologize if my post came off as a wanted thread.

The love I have for the vette, especially the C3's are a good portion of the "muscle car" era years are modified. Most retorations are so costly that you are upside down $ wise, and Factory "bloomington gold" style restorations seem to hold a little more value. Problem is you can never use them. Trailer them around and cover when not at shows. A waste to me. In 50 years only the creme d' la creme will be around. I joke with people my kids will try to fit my cars stuffed in a garbage can at the curb when I'm gone LOL!! I buy and build my cars to use and appreciate anyone that does the same. I applaud you and will look you up at Carlisle this year. Hope to shake your hand! Now (back on topic).... Thank you and continue! I love the C3 road race style!!!

Got it and thank you for your response. I look forward to meeting you at Carlisle. Now as far as Hunterdon Co., NJ we get that way from time to time to see our financial adviser, and I retired from J&J in New Brunswick, NJ just about four years ago now. I would invite you over to look over the road racer but it is currently sitting at Gordon's house in Voorhees getting some much needed electrical and engine attention outside of my skill set. It will be back home this Spring and I will finish it and get it on the road this Summer. I cannot wait. In the meantime I am restoring a 77 with a nice restored Super T-10 and a newly built 383 stroker so that is keeping me busy at the present time. Now if our temperatures would just get back up where they need to be for me to work comfortably in the garage.

Thanks again for the posting and clarification, I appreciate it.
Best regards,
David

Default February 9 Update

I have been busy working on the 77 and picking up and dropping off parts as well as a bunch of powder coating but I did manage to get down to Gordon's yesterday for a good visit.

We had a good walk around the 72 and I captured a few pictures to show you the progress. As Gordon has shared with me, wiring is not sexy nor can you really see the progress easily, but trust me when I say he has done a lot on the car now and I am getting more excited each time I see the progress.

First, then engine bay:
The Hydratech Hydro-Boost is in, plumbed, filled, and bled. The same with the hydraulic clutch from American Powertrain for the Tremec TKO-600.

Because I am running the Vintage Air Serpentine system on the front of the engine I am using a PS pump with a remote reservoir. The current reservoir chosen seems big but we may be adding an additional line to it for back pressure. Gordon is thinking this one through now but you can see the reservoir location here. You will see the line we are considering for the addition laying up near the carb in the second picutre below. You can also see the filler cap for the coolant system sitting here (black) which was a great alternative to a separate reservoir in an already busy engine bay.

And you can see the Holly Terminator EFI carburetor here as well. It is installed, plumbed, and ready for action. I like the look and I think it will do the job well for me.

Gordon also has been wiring up my gauges and during this process has figured out how he wants to do his on the 72 convertible with LS engine he has been building. Maybe I should say "re-do" because he has his wired up, but likes this setup much better. I am glad to be the guy that helps him find a better way to do his own.

So thanks goes out to Gordon for his efforts during our cold snap and I look forward to coming down to break in the engine when you are ready.

Oh, almost forgot. I took the side pipes and inserts down with me so they could be installed for engine run. He has the oxygen sensor installed now so the side pipes can be installed and we can consider a date for running the engine up. I'm excited.

Thanks again and best regards,

David Howard

Looks great. I am trying to figure out the wiring on the 5 gauge panel, specifically the white light bulb wires coming together at the bottom to a blue looking thing with a thin black wire coming out. Am I seeing that right?

Thanks

I think I've got this one, the whites tie together to a common connector "the blue thingy" they are the positive leads that would connect to a wire from the head light switch when the parking lights are engaged, the black wires are the ground side.

David correct me if I'm wrong ... didn't mean to steal your thunder ... it's early! lol

No. Optical illusion. Just the angle of the photo taken the white wires are for the gauge lighting. The ground wire just looks like it is in there. Just a ground wire. I can take a different picture if need be. Yes the blue thingy is just a wire connector. The small ground wire there is just a warning light for something. It fits in the clock stem hole. Have not figured for what yet. Here is a little better picture hopefully.

Default No Longer Sharing

I have decided after a lot of thought and discussion that I am taking this build from public to private and will no longer be updating this thread or the activities associated with this build.

I appreciate all those that have contributed and assisted during this build and I wish you all the very best of success in your builds.

Best personal regards,

David Howard
