1978 L-82 Stock Engine Bay Pics NEEDED!!
This last weekend I picked up an awesome all original 1978 L-82 4 speed.
Everything on the car is original and numbers matching, except the engine bay, where the previous owner decided it would be a great idea to pull the original air cleaner, carb, intake, exhaust manifolds, and valve covers and do all aftermarket stuff. Luckily he kept most of it, but I am still needing guidance on when it comes to all the emissions stuff, like exhaust manifold stuff, smog pump stuff, and where it all goes. I am in the process of putting it all back and any pics of your engines with the air cleaners off would be awesome.

One item that gets to be a challenge when an owner wants to "spruce-up" their engine, especially with air cleaner in place is the routing of the emission hoses. Wilcox, vendor here posts some nice color schematics that shows the correct routing for your L82.

The pictures that I specifically need are all the vacuum hoses in front of the carb, and smog pump hose routing. All this on my vette has been removed and I want to put it back

This is from Willcox:
I've used it many times to help sort my vacuum hoses out. I "decided it was a good idea" to do something recently though that invalidates all of this in my setup.

You guys are awesome. Thanks for much for the help! I recently spent $350 getting all the correct smog stuff for this car, so that it is 100% right when it is all said and done. I hope that expense pays off!!

Great to find this thread since I'm now the new proud owner of Ben's former '78 L82 25th anniversary car. I was admiring all of his great restoration work underhood and notice one of the vacuum lines has a split in it. It's probably original '78 vintage and it's time for replacement. Without removing the air cleaner it appears to run from the vapor canister back up to the front of the carb and through the clamp with the 3 hoses just behind the alternator. It will be an easy fix, but it sure is great to find such great photos for reference!
Thanks!
Thanks!

If you want to believe what the NCRS judging manual states (some members don't believe in the NCRS for accuracy) it is semi-flat black. I don't have an original car so can't check for you

Sorry to hijack the thread but this picture (now with a very light red circle around the part I'm referring to) shows a part that I've been wondering about; what is the part circled in Red coming out of the intake? -That's the EGR valve right?
-I had my stock manifolds replaced with headers and the AIR pump removed, and that part had no vacuum hose connected to it right now -it's just open to the world. Is this going to cause a vacuum leak or does it have some sort of one-way valve inside?
-If I want to remove the EGR valve what do I do and what do I put in it's place?

1978 or 79? Pics waterpump?
Hi,
title says 78, question states 79...guess you want them for a 79?
I have a 79 myself and on the pictures stated to be all original, the waterpump looks different from mine.
( not saying my pump would be the right one, because my airfilter, smog and cat are sertainly not original...)
Congrats on your purchase and admirable intentions!
grtz
