Best Aftermarket Seats for C3 Convertible?
I'm thinking of changing out my stock 1970 seats for an aftermarket set of seats with more comfort and support. My car is a convertible, so I don't want to use C5 or C6 seats where the head rests are too high. I don't need to make them power seats, but that's an option I'd consider if you think it's the way to go.
I've heard of guys putting in Fiero Seats, so I'd like to hear what you think of them and where to get them.
What recommendations can you give me? Post photos of your seats in your reply, if you can?
Thanks!

I'm sure several will chime in w/ the Fiero seats- they are a nice choice- especially w/ Mr. Mikes custom seat covers.
I bought a pair of Corbeau GTS II seats for my convertible. Originally the headrest looked out of place- so I cut it in half- and it looks much better.
I have shaved the seats to sit a little lower- but I'm still not happy w/ the position. Any more than a 38" waist or over 6ft and they become uncomfortable.
I am looking into theses seat-designed for Porsche- looks like the seating position would be lower-have a bunch of styles-

Here's a few that caught my eye-
This one looks like it would sit down nice and low-

These are some of the nicest seats I have come into contact with. The Pontiac GTO seat has a very thick quality leather. Much nicer then a C5 seat. And cheaper. You could remove the head rests easily if needed.
Plan to fabricate mounting brackets if you do go this route.
I put in C5 sport power seats in my 81, which are also awesome. I fabricated dropped floor pans to accommodate dual power seats.

Did you have to modify the floor pan width? I had a set but they would not fit in the stock floor recess between the trans tunnel and sill.

Are the "clam shell" 1979-82 seats a direct fit on a 1970, or do you have to have the tracks for a 1979-82 seat, too?
Also, for you guys who have installed Fiero seats, are they a direct fit in a 1970 Corvette, or did you have to modify the floor plan in some way?
Thanks for your help and input! The expertise and guidance from the members on this forum is great!

I am going with Fiero seats, just ordered the leather from Mr Mike last week.
There is a guy on the forum right now selling his seats and the brackets you need to install them. This just came out this week I think.
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-brackets.html
How tall are you?
Fiero seats raise you up about 2". I am tall in the torso so the difference makes me very tall in the car. My daughter is 5'3" and loves the Fiero seats...she says the car 'fits' her with them in.
I also opted for the ones with the speakers in the headrest. Doesn't matter how fast I am going or how much noise there is, I hear the stereo.
I just pulled out the Fiero seats last month to try the originals again and I hate them. No adjustment, no comfort, no padding, no speakers....so I ordered the covers.
Even if you are not sure, pick up the seats and brackets and try them out BEFORE ordering the covers. You can always sell them to another member if you don't like them.
Leather set me back 780.00, but I waited to be sure. Also, I didn't order them with logos, just in case I want to sell them later on.
It would have cost me over 1100.00 to fix the parts on my originals that needed attention (brackets, chrome, etc).
Hope this helps

The power frame would not fit or the entire seat?
Also saw in an old post that 05 Mustang seats fit perfectly. I think they might have bolted them onto the stock frames.

Age 71 here, my '72 vert got modified over the last 20 years I have it.....the seat back mounting tabs cut off, lowering the seat as I"m 6'5" and 225 lbs......dropped the seat nearly 2" I put in a TT column....and smaller wheel from later shark.....spaced it off the firewall about 3/4 inch, wish it was 1.5 inches.....cut the floorboard/firewall all across the base and up to the column height on each side, pried it forward, and glassed in the bottom, cut/modded the pedals to allow more legroom on the wheel....
I used to own an '87 and found the seats totally miserable in too narrow, which is the main reason I sold the car in '95......
I used to own a '87? Fiero Formula and it seated nicely.....

That's what I ordered (with speaker holes and without the flags).
Man, I can't wait to get them.
Oh crap, I forgot to order the arm rest.
Did you get that from somewhere else?

I love these Fiero seats and the way they look in your convertible. Which model are these from Mr. Mike's? Are they his Leather, Semi-Sport model seats?

Those covers are leather Semi-sport with the embroidered logo (obviously).
From what I remember, the semi-sport have the seam along the side bolster which is supposed to reduce the wrinkled appearance, at least so some degree.
They were pretty comfortable, but did sit slightly higher than the stock seats.
They were super easy to cover and install. Just a bit expensive if you opt for leather.
