What else do you do with a month off work?
Well fellas, a few months ago I decided to follow my passion and leave working in IT and start a career more suited to my personal interests in the auto industry. When making this change I decided to give myself about a month off before I started the new gig and when you've got a '69 Corvette sitting in the garage, a road trip is the first thing that came to mind
With the oil changed, tank filled and car cleaned, I headed west from Phoenix on I-10 and sure enough I got poured on right when I crossed into California. From Blythe, CA I took a loop down south to check out the Salton Sea which was interesting to see. My destination that day was Big Bear, CA and I've got to say that the drive up the mountain to get up there was the perfect mix of twistys and beauty!
Leaving Big Bear the next morning I took Angeles Crest Hwy towards Hollywood, then onto Mulholland Dr, down through Topanga to Pacific Coast Highway all the way to Santa Barbara for the night.
The next day started out on PCH headed towards San Francisco with a bit of a detour to see the James Dean Memorial then back onto PCH. The traffic on PCH as I got closer to San Francisco was absolutely horrible!
Following a few nights in San Fran with my cousin, Reno was the next stop. A visit to the National Automobile Museum was a must so I got on the road a bit late the next day, definitely worth the delay!
That night a casino in West Wendover, NV was home with a stop at the Bonneville Salt Flats planned for sunrise the next morning and with the Salt Flats being a bit of bucket list item for me since I could drive, it felt a bit like Christmas Eve
Leaving the Flats, I headed south to a lovely little city by the name of Las Vegas. If there's one thing I figured out on my drive through Nevada, it's that the only two things in NV are Reno and Vegas!
The next morning, head feeling a little fuzzy, I gassed up and got my butt back to Phoenix. It was a hell of a week, the car ran flawlessly and had a lot of fun, sure AC, cruise control and GPS would've made the trip more enjoyable but I wouldn't have done a damn thing different!
Onto the pics:

Wow Nice Road Trip. You just need that range free chicken from the commercial who travels through the states as a companion. Man I got to retire so I can enjoy myself more. How many mile you cover?

What an awesome adventure! I'm in Germany now crossing things off of my bucket list. The autobahn was at the top. Done it a few times now and 206kph is the best my little rental will do (that's 128mph). I just retired from the CHP so I'm not impressed with the 128... Need to rent a REAL car for a day! Thanks for the pictures!!!
