How many of you guys have also built a KIT CAR?

I was strongly considering one of the FFR kits, but ultimately decided against it because of the considerable time it would require. That was a lot of time I could be enjoying another vehicle and spending time with family.
Really like the new FFR type 65 though

I was about ready to order the FFR Type 65 Coupe when we noticed our 73 BB Coupe at a car show for sale. It had ac, auto, and the guy sold my wife when he let her sit in the drivers seat, handed her the keys and told her to start it up. She smiled and I got out the checkbook.

I found a Kelmark in Kalamazoo on Craigslist for less than $5000... I did a little research and found that they were pretty rare nowadays. And though it was built on a VW chassis with a VW engine that didn't produce a whole lotta giddyup I really liked the look. I started thinking about all the upgrades I could do, all the tinkering fun.
Then I started to think that if I was going to go kit, I should go Cobra -- I mean aside from the vette, it has the best lines and performance in my opinion. Then I thought about a BMW 507 kit I saw online -- didn't even know they made 'em. Absolutely beautiful.
And then I thought -- Yep, beautiful fun cars. But they're not vettes.
I've nearly pulled the trigger on a couple kits, but I always come back to the conclusion that with limited time and limited budget, I'd rather spend both on a genuine bona fide corvette.
I suppose any car that gets family together for unplugged quality time in the garage is a good investment.

Yes I 'built'...er-ah rebuilt, the specious factory lack of EVERYTHING...
1978 LOTUS ESPRIT....yes the James Bond One.
I've built 108 cars...far and away that was the lousiest POS ever foisted on a more-money-than-sense public.
It was a kit car from the factory....volvo brake cyls and Fiat steering gear ...just ATROCIOUS fiberglas.....long gone now, completely unlamented!

I built this FFR around 2005, great fun! I got caught out in the rain one time to many, and decided to get something a little more weatherproof!

"Kit car"
Is a misnomer for a lot of the cars being posted,
Which to me fall into the transitional "component" cars class or move on to "replicas"
Some cobra and gt 40 replicas trump the real cars they clone,
A well built gtm or the street rod customs also are light years ahead of a manta mirage or mini t buggy,

Super interesting but please start a new thread on this rather than tacking onto a 2 year old post about kit cars that isn’t related.
