Well this is original I guess. At least I can't argue with 1100WHP.
From the article:
If there’s anything that can serve as a cover for professional haters, be they keyboard warriors or actual drivers, the purist suit has to be it.
Claim you’re one of the purists and your rage against anything that’s “unorthodox” will suddenly be backed by an irrefutable argument.

Check out video number two below it! No problem, whatsoever hearing the exhaust! Actually, it sounds pretty bad ***! The 1/4 mile run, in just a bit over 8 secs! And it did it, nice and smooth too!

2JZ was SO far ahead of it's time. Still an amazing engine as far as power to liter ratio capacity!

I like it- fits under the hood nicely.
Looks to be a really well done swap and backs it up w/ a sub 9sec run.
What's not to like?
And why not be different?

Saw a 2jz in a Lexus coupe. Guy said was 1000+ HP, and it had that ginormous turbo, looks like it belongs on a diesel semi truck!!! Boost upwards of 45 psi
Nice car, had over $50k in engine alone...
Did they say what trans they run?

we built that car in my shop for a very good friend of mine. the engine was originally in a sc300 and we decided the car was a horrible platform. the corvette was originally his fathers and had a nice 572 in it lol. he got the car and we got to work. 3 weeks later we had it ready for the flk race in tampa. it went a 8.9 in the quarter but left way to soft. on sunday we took it to a local track and turned it up and managed a 1.16 6o foot out of it.... way faster than any of up could have expected. to look at the build you can look at my instagram and my facebook shop page..... o and the trans is a 2 speed glide.

I can see purists getting all butt chapped over stuff like this but I also never met a purist who was really a true Car crafter, they might like their stock car but you gear heads know what I mean. ( and that wasn't meant as a slam, just how I see it )
One of my favorite engine swaps ever was a 427 FORD in a mid engine vette, now days it's Richards car.
Dropping higher HP engines in an old car is the heart and soul of car crafting, in this case the engine is imported, so what, if even one fellow that is dissing and trashing it can spank it...lets see him prove that claim,

A few reasons:
Because you can (same reason a dog licks his you know what)
Nope- because he (dog) can't make a fist w/ his paw....
Because you live in Cuba and have to improvise with whatever you can get your hands on (necessity is the mother of invention)
Yes there is a Cuba, GA- builder says it was built in South Georgia...not positive it was Cuba though...
You have nothing else to waste your time and money on
I wouldn't call a 8 sec car a waste....

lol, i love it. yes it was built in south ga and we had no idea it would cause this much butt hurt on the interwebz. it was built for one purpose and that was to go fast with what we had. we built it in 3 weeksand cut a 1.16 60 foot on its third ever pass. this car is going to be a very serious contender once we get it dialed in and turn the power up..... everyone is posting that its 1100 hp not realizing thats what it made on low boost. high boost and nitrous should have us up a little better

Burning Brakes
Cool engines, iron block with a thick deck surface, seven main caps and a forged crank make for a bottom end that can take some serious boost and hold together. Think of a scaled down 6 cylinder diesel engine made to run on gas.

As for purisits, I have most always been, but the last 8-10 years a restomod C2 will usually bring more $ at auction than a #'s matching Big Block unless the car has some super low miles and or provenance that adds extra value.
I see 63 split windows being resto-modded!!! Yikes! The demographics are moving toward the classic they loved as a teen, but want the reliability, power, handling that the new vettes have, and that trend shows no sign of stopping as some C2's are bringing $150-200k plus at auction, and a good beautiful #'s matching SBC can be had for $30-40k, and not alot more for a BBC car.

Why would you spend more money, to make less horsepower??? Not like there is a weight savings since the block on the 2jz is cast iron. Put the same money, and turbo into an LS and it will be faster every day of the week. Plus, the LS1 is capable of handling just as much power as a 2jz with the stock bottom end. The work that would go into this to make such a swap possible is impressive, but it's a silly waste of money for a little cool factor that only your local honda boy teenagers will rightly appreciate.
More $$$
Less cubes
Hmmm....
6k for a forged bottom end, and 6k for a Ysi, and you'll have what this car makes with a 3.0 litre I6 for half the price. That turbo probably costs close to the same as a built LS alone, much less the custom fab work to mount it in the car.

lol, this car was built to get that exact reaction. people either love or hate it every time we pop the hood off. it has gone through some upgrades and is now constantly popping off 7 sec 1/4 mile passes. as fas as doing it cheaper i already have all of the fab tools and skills, we already had the built 2jz that came from a lexus sc300..... so truth be told we have less in this build than even the cheapest junkyard ls turbo build out there. plus why not be diffrent.... there are more ls swaped everything than there are cars with original engines. dont get me wrong, i love an ls... in fact my ls turbo fox will be hitting the dyno tomorrow to see if we can make 1200ish out of it.... but i think the 2j worked perfect for the c3.
