Lost my best friend...
FWIW to anyone who may have noticed I haven't spent much time here on the CF for a few days, my Dad passed away this past Thursday evening of complications following a stroke. He was sincerely my best friend, was the one who walked me thru my first few engine builds, and did everything within his power to assist and support my racing pursuits. Sadly, since my shark has been in pieces for a while I haven't been able to take him cruising in it for far too long, but at least I don't have to suffer not knowing where he's spending eternity. Anyway, TIA to those who wish to "sign the register". /Charlie

You were super lucky, to have a great Dad, like you had. He sounded like a real Dad, that was helpful, stood behind your efforts and participated in your life. He left you with a legacy and you turned out the way you did, because of him, so you'll know, that there will always be a part of him, there with you.

I am so sorry to hear about your Dad.....I know it took emotion and energy just to let us know.
It is times like this that I am thankful for Heaven. Prayers for you and your family.

Very sorry to hear about your loss. While my dad did not have many mechanical skills it was his 1969 that got me obsessed with Vettes. As is the case with you he is my best friend. Truly someone I can talk to about anything. I cannot imagine your loss. Please let us know if you need anything.

My sympathies. Your Dad was a lucky man, and you are a lucky Son. It may not seem that way now, but in time you will look back and realize how blessed you both were.

Charlie, we your CF family express our condolences and I can personally assure you of my prayers for you and your family during this challenging time. I understand exactly how you feel. My Vette was the last real project my Dad worked on and I had a chance to work with him on it. Every time I start to do something I wish he was around to ask advice and wisdom on. He always told me "Son, if there is an easy way and a hard way to do the same thing, you'll pick the hard way every time!". Enjoy the memories. Be thankful he was there to make them with you. Be sure and do the same as you have opportunity. Prepare for eternity, and make the most of each day. None of us are promised tomorrow. Blessings on you.

All your life he was preparing you to step up when he leaves so now is the time you must make him proud and be the strong one for your family. He is still with you all along the way as you follow in his footsteps. In the meantime I hope you find peace.

My condolences. Our father's have a such an impact on our lives. I lost my Dad 22 years ago last month. Not a day goes by that something doesn't remind me of him. The memories do last forever. God bless you and your family.

I lost my Dad in 2010, the 11th of next
month. Not a day goes by that I do not think of him. I have his old workbench and tools in my shop. Many times when my wife asks what I have been doing I will answer "Just spending time with my Dad." When I had my driving permit, my Dad would take me out on Sunday afternoons for practice. Except he would drive when we left home. He would drive us miles into the backwoods, then he would pull to the roadside and get out. Then he would say "You drive us home." I had to figure out how to get us back because he would never help or give directions lol! My wife says "How do you always know which direction you are going?" You have my sympathies my friend. Hang on to those memories. He will always be with you.

My dads been gone 2 1/2 years now. Miss him everyday. He was my best friend. Got me started in cars. I bought this current Vette from him 20 years ago. I remember the last ride we had together. He was all smiles. He said keep it going. Very sorry to hear of your loss. It does get a little better with time. Cherish the memories you have had with him
