Hi,
I believe that the paint on the front control arms typically had more gloss to them than the paint on the frame.
It wasn't 'glossy' by any stretch but had some gloss.
I think the differences in the gloss level makes the chassis even more interesting to look at.
Regards,
Alan
The frame and the control arm are both Krylon 1613. The frame was sprayed a bit 'dry', while the control arm was sprayed very 'wet'.
It's pretty easy to get at least 3 levels of gloss from the same can.

There was statements on this tread about the frame being smooth before rusting. I am finally at the point of getting under the car and cleaning the frame. I have areas of bad weld splatter in the front area. It was not cleaned up buy the builders. Is this normal? Nothing smooth in these areas.

Hi Dennis,
The frames typically have a LOT of weld splatter.
Much of it is easy to pop off with a stiff putty knife and small hammer…. if you choose.

I'm doing a frame on restoration of a 71 and trying to remove all the undercoating. I am using a needle scaler and then a wire brush on a drill. It still is rough. What is the best paint to use and should I use a rust encapsulator primer first. Which paint will give a smooth finish when applied to a rough surface? Should I use spray paint or paint it on to get a thicker coat. Would you recommend using an internal frame coating paint? I know there are alot of questions--sorry. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help and input.
