Default Power Steering Pumps - Where did you buy yours? What worked well?

The pump on my '68 has continued to leak and now it is beyond simply inconvenient. A seal kit went in long ago and constantly has seepage, so a second seal kit was done and didn't improve. But I lived with it. Now it is just time to replace it.

I was looking at Advance Auto.

Cardone Remanufactured Power Steering Pump w/Reservoir has a non-stock appearing reservoir. The one review says it hits the brackets and can't remove the cap. I think it is definitely one to pass up unless someone has had good luck.

O'Reilly has MasterPro Power Steering - Power Steering Pump.

Looks right, didn't see any reviews.

AutoZone has Duralast/Power Steering Pump and it also looks right. Again, no reviews.

Anyone used any of these?

Call LoneStar.
The leak check them, set the pressure, and test run every one.

I ordered this from O'Reilly's as shown on their web site and it came in.

When I opened the box, I got this.

From some reviews on another parts store website, I know the other buyers had fit issues and can't get the cap off to fill or check. I love how aftermarket suppliers think that things will work even though they change the design.

So I am currently waiting for O'Reilly's to check on Monday if they can get the correct one or if I need to go elsewhere.

So far I have succes with a tuff stuff pump (not chrome ones). A bit more expensive but it felt like a quality piece.

As far as not being able to remove the cap if you have the wrong length belt it won't have enough clearance to remove the cap. I bought a power steering pump for my 72 through Summit Racing . Good quality and is working great.

Default Autozone for my 68

I bought it locally because it has a lifetime warranty and they're typically good about exchanges..... and it's like 3 blocks from me.

Did not turn in my core until after I brought it home. I needed to transfer a stud/support from mine to the new one. Got it for ~55 bucks in June 2014 and it's been fine so far.

I am quite sure that I warped the body on the old one by overtightening the hose without appropriately holding the body. I was going to do a rebuild kit, but decided it wasn't worth the hassle ---especially after suspected that I'd warped it.

A company named A`1 Cardone is probably the best and leader in rebuilt PS pumps..Most parts stores carry the brand and sold with generous discounts. We sold over the years many pumps and related parts.....including to GM auto dealerships

I use Advance Auto Parts Part No. 20-142 Cardone rebuilt pump with out reservoir and transfer original reservoir. The round neck can is getting hard to find and square can style will not work as stated in other posts.

I've stopped buying rebuilds from the general auto parts houses, just too many out-of-the-box defects. That includes NAPA and O'Reilly. My suggestion is to either rebuild it yourself or use one of the Vette suppliers.
