Burning Brakes
Hey danthony,
Thanks for the comments. Yes, they are repop tires that were purchased from Zip and are supposedly made in the original Goodyear molds. My car has the original, unused spare and the repop tires match it perfectly! As for how the car handles, it behaves like it did when new. Keep in mind that narrow, bias-ply tires tend to feel a bit "squirrely" and they "thump" when cold until the tires warm up. Back then (1970) we didn't know any better and thought it drove great! To me, the authentic look is worth the trouble of dealing with bias-ply tires. Does it handle like a new Camry? Heck NO, but that's part of the allure of piloting a big block, 4-speed, no PS C3.

71 LS5, 4spd, SN 1632 - early 71 production with many leftover 70 parts. Pretty original car except for one correct color repaint in the 80's that is showing its age. Everything works inside including the fiber optics, clock and radio.

Keen eyes may be able to tell the CEC is not connected, but I have all of the parts. On my list of to-do's.......

Looks great thanks for the pics.Being that your 71 is a early LS5 did it come with the chrome valve covers as some early ones have been known to come with them and not the Orange painted covers.Thnaks Jerry

Safety Car
My Ontario Orange 1972 LS5 4spd.
Got a few engine mods (Cam, Intake, Carb) and it sounds great thru a set of GM (Over the Counter) N-11 Off Road mufflers.
