Default New parking brake handle finished

Yet another trivial step finished.

Sure the center consoles were in but hey, the screws can turn both ways so why leave well enough alone.

Wasn't totally happy with the power window switches but that's another story so I pulled the brake console back off and one thing led to another and...

Tied in the walnut from the door panels/shifter plate

Hard to see in the pics but it has the same overall size and shape (actually it's very slightly thinner side to side) as the original with the gentle curve along both sides

Now I should be able to re-install the brake console and be right back where I was in October sometime...

As always fantastic work. You should post the pics of your window switches, they are amazing!

Trivial - as in little or no importance??? Really? A parking brake handle that doesn't fall apart if you pull it to hard...that doesn't look like cheap plastic?

Doing custom stuff takes a LOT of time- and it turned out FANTASTIC!!

I can really appreciate the work involved.

Great job!

That's nice looking. I like how it goes with your door panels.

Round button in a (used to be ) square hole?...hmm...can you share more of how you made this...also would like to see the window switches and hear the story behind them...( the brake handle is outstanding!)

Many thanks to all.

goodguys282, Yes, I can only justify adding these little bits when I do it myself.

gdh, I'm going to see if I can re-re-re-install them today and I'll do a boast-post if it goes well.

Andy, LOL. I'd hate to look at the hours in this one to see what it cost me at $1/hr

Richard, No, I meant trivial as in lets count the number of people who won't even notice.

mardyn, 4SPDL81, Really I just swapped out the paddle switches for a set of illuminated push-buttons and relays. but made them fit the existing cutouts. (I was thinking of buying a non-power window console and cutting my own holes but cheaped out at the last minute)

Alan, Thanks, I should make a new calendar based on Corvette time rather than Gregorian.

There's not really much to elaborate on.
Check this thread for some details but it's nothing groundbreaking

Yes- but that's what makes it "better" in my opinion...Such a good job it blends in and looks like it SHOULD be there.

IF you wanted 'those people' to notice you should have used Louis Vuitton material!!!

If I wanted someone to notice, I'd have to take it out of the garage once in awhile

Mooser- real nice. I have a left-over piece of elm burl wood I bought to make a radio surround for my BMW that I may now use to spruce up my handle. Nothing looks better in a vintage car than wood. Thanks for the idea.

Default No photos

Mooser, I was able to see the photos on your "New power window switch" thread, but not on this thread of your hand brake. Don't know why, as others seem able to see them. I need some inspiration to update my console/hand brake/window switch set-up.

Regards from Down Under.

Sorry about that, looks like photobucket has mangled the entire directory somehow. Let me see what if anything I can do
