Default New power window switches finished

These are what caused the Parking Brake handle needing to be remade. (https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...eply&t=3764464)

Needed something different for no valid reason. Old switches worked fine, sure a little floppy and such but functioned

Without buying a new console to drill into, what can be done with the existing cutouts....

Well, this can be made to work

Yup, I think that'll work

Zillion more wires and two pairs of relays later

And just to give the guys in the imports something to stare at, they're wired into the dash lights

Another check point on the long and winding (circular?) rebuild path

Very nice! I love that they're kit.

Did you switch all your lights to LEDs?. The colour looks considerably more blue.

Thanks
I switched everything over to LED while I had the dashes all apart and went with blue just for a change. Although noticeably brighter than the white incandescent bulbs it's still somewhat dark over in the center gauge pod but not something I'm going to get into this time around.

Awesome Mooser! Can one push both buttons down at the same time (for the driver side for instance)? How did you deal with that situation?

The relays are wired so that each gets it's coil power through the NC contact on the other relay so when the up is pressed, it breaks the coil power for the down relay, and vise-verse. Took several coffees to figure that one out but it's actually fairly straight forward.

I have a one-touch unit from a taurus but I didn't get in that far this time I wired them into the keyless entry system so if you lock the doors remotely it raises both windows, but since the windows go up in about 3 seconds and the remote unit just powers them for 15 sec (not sure where they got that from) I'm worried about the motors deadheading for 10-12 second... I may disable this until I come up with a better solution.

Turned out great!!! Love the back lighting!!!

I'm looking at doing a one-touch PW as well...albeit I'm going to use Jaguar switches!!!

Here's a piece I found that might do the trick-

"One Touch Power Window Kit

This Window Controller kit has a unique performance design that allows your windows to fully roll up or down or stop in mid stream with just one click. The microprocessor also has a safety feature that will also stop supplying power to the window if resistance occurs protecting your power window system."

I saw those on ebay/amazon. Almost everything has the one-touch these days so the wreckers are full. Just need one that isn't built onto the motor. The ford (taurus) ones are a small stand alone module. Yeah it's only the drivers side and it only does down (not sure if I like the idea of one-touch up, sounds like a hazard)
Anyway, that'll be another day

Thanks Mooser. I have seen this trick in circuits without relays. I'm guessing you started with something like this and added relays to it.
Here when the second button is pushed, it stops the motor.

Nice work, Mooser. Looks slick, should work well, reliability will be a function of the relays (pick a good brand, they should last a LOOOONNNG time).

Much better than buying 'foreign' junk.

The LED's are very unidirectional is would seem. I rotated it around until it was "best", still better than the old bulbs but not what it could be. Maybe that's something I'll look at "next" time it's out

I raided a few cars at a u-pick a few years ago and got a few handfulls of relays I've been using. Some are real Bosch, others are at least OEM so here's hoping I get a few clicks out of them

That schematic must be from something newer.
On my poor old car the window motors have two sets of windings with the case ground where that one reverses the two contacts for up/down. The paddle switched just take the positive from the PW relay and direct it to one of the two windings.

I'll post the schematic I came up with JIC someone down the road wants it.
