Default 1980 stenciled number of the frame?

Hi Folks

I was cleaning up my 1980 Corvette to sell and I have noticed a few things on the frame. There are yellow chalk marks and stenciled upside down on the frame underneath the passenger side there are two rows of numbers about 3/4 inch high. One row has 10 numbers while the second row has four. It doesn't look like a VIN number. Anybody know what the numbers reference? Were these numbers on all C3s?

Thanks

Yes! The part numbers differed for automatic transmissions versus those of four-speeds. The last three digits were the lot number while the first series is the frame assembly number.

Yep. The A. O. Smith Company made C3s frames and shipped them to St. Louis. The date on the frame will be earlier than the time build code of your Corvette.
