Minor stereo upgrade for '80 Vette
Just wanted to show my choices for a minor sound update in my '80: existing Kenwood KDC-MP145 head unit, upgraded rear speakers that fit in the stock position- Alpine SPR-69, and a powered subwoofer- Kenwood KSC-SW11 placed in the passenger side rear compartment. My front speakers were updated by previous owner...
I am really pleased with the Kenwood subwoofer. It won't move the gravel outside your car, but it's perfect for classic rock and alt-pop; more than enough oomph. And it fits almost perfectly in the rear compartment. Thus far I see no problem with it being closed in there- I worried about both heat and sound, but everything seems fine thus far.

How do you get to the jack?

I'm not sure about the earlier C3s, but on an '80 the jack sits in the compartment below the tray holding the sub. I made sure to leave enough slack in the leads to still lift the entire tray out if need be. My only issue is that tray was where I had my fire extinguisher, fix-a-flat, and small tools. I think I'll just get a small bag for those items and just keep them in the back.

I wasn't aware they made subs that were that small. Thanks for sharing. I'll keep that in mind when I get to that point with my '77.
