Default Exhaust System

Looking for an exhaust system for my 1970 corvette 350/300 hp. I'm trying to stick to an original or a good reproduction. The originals are very hard to find as everyone knows. I really don't have a clue about the reproduction quality.. Looking for some suggestions. One of the few items left on my restoration list.... thanks Droop

It's available with either the stock type mufflers or a N11 off road mufflers that have one less baffle in them so give a bit louder sound.
If you can be patient for a little while CC often has free shipping specials which will save you a little $$.
I was really quite surprised and pleased how well the system fit on my 71.
Good Luck!

Alan, Thank you....I'll differently Look into it..I don't need the system right now. Just trying to get ahead of things. Saving $$$$ is a good thing. Droop

Alan, Just looked at C.C. What system did you go with? If it was the welded system was there any aliment problems at the exhaust tips...Droop

I used the CC system with Magnaflow mufflers. Not the welded one though.

It does fit very nice.

I too was concerned about how the tailpipe/muffler would fit, but was pleasantly surprised. It appears CC must have a pretty precise jig for the pipe and muffler to get a consistent positioning before the weld.
The system was easy to install and getting the exhaust tips centered in the valance bezels was straight forward.
What I like is not having the extra set of clamps between the mufflers and pipes and that the pipes tucked up very high as they ran under the rear spring mount so you don't see them hanging down.
I'm sure not everyone is as pleased as I was but I really thought they were good.
I bought the sb, 4-speed, aluminized, welded, system for a 71.

Alan

Dan and Allen, The system seems to have a lot of quality built in. Either welded or not. The quality is what counts.. It sound like you guys are very happy. That counts too... I'll let you know tomorrow..Thanks Droop PS Allen did you get the N11 muffler or the stock one and did you black them out? thanks Droop

It came with clamps but I like to use bands instead. I think I'm going to have it welded this spring. It's not like I plan on taking it apart again anytime soon.

Alan, great pic! I was starting to doubt that the double wall existed!
Droop, I can vouch for the fit/finish on a Gardner exhaust, installed one on my 68 and the fit was perfect.

I bought the true dual exhaust from CC. I love the rumble, easy to install. I have the hideaway mufflers. They fit great on my 76. They are Magnaflows.

The pipes are carbon steel so they rust while you stand looking at them. I have cleaned the rust that was on them, (surprisingly little), and have a preservative on them now.
I really am only trying to put the set together in anticipation of perhaps having the car Flight Judged for it's 50th birthday.
If I were to begin driving my car I'd put the CC aluminized system back on in a heartbeat.
Putting an exhaust system together and finding original tires really isn't just about the points because there aren't that many involved…. but is much more about pushing the envelope for an ordinary car that typically wouldn't get this much restoration attention.

Alan
Alen, I agree...It’s a good thing you are doing. During my restore there is only 2 rules. Rule 1: Keep it original, that’s the way I bought it. Rule 2: See Rule 1. Thanks for all your help everyone...Droop

Call Aliens Stainless, his system is top of line and fits perfectly

Mine is a 2 1/2 system and went together with zero issues.....I think he's a vendor here.....and easy to communicate with which is also important .....plus he makes the parts no third party involved.....

Alan
Did you go with the 2 inch pipes or 2 to 2 1/2 set up?
