1980 paintjob in progress
Update in Post#7
Update in Post#11
Well, after a long restomod i have finally decided to call it done, and paint my 1980. My neighbor asked if there is any part i didnt modify, all i could find was the cigarette lighter that was still stock hahaha.
going to re fair the entire body, re-point the body lines, and close up all the gaps. Also all trim is getting re-plated/anodized/painted.
I am going to go with silver, if anyone has a suggestion for a good silver color i am looking for something with a bit more jazz than the original silver.

I feel your pain. I went with the fiberglass nose piece this time. it lined up nice. Not a lot of work. We are just doing the front end this time. Gonna be a pretty spring!!

I visited all the new-car dealerships (on a Sunday....LOL) to narrow down the "Red" that I wanted for my '34 street truck. It worked out well.

Suggesting you a silver is kinda pointless. You either need to go to dealerships and look at new cars during the day..and the AGAIN at night. If current silvers used today are not what you want.....then it is going to an automotive paint store and see if they have color decks ( they should) that you can look through. I have over 10,000 color chips for about every car currently made...and the silvers can range quite a bit...and NOT knowing what you like....it is hard to suggest anything.
Simply changing the metallic size in the paint formula can change how it looks ( going from a medium coarse aluminum to a fine bright aluminum for example).....and adding silver white pearl to it...can make the paint more radiant under some types of light.
When I get customers like yourself who do not know what color they want...I shoot up test panels made out of rain gutters and clear them. This is so the curves in the rain gutter show the highlights like the body would....versus a flat panel. AND...the small amounts of paint that I mix up for each test panel.... do not go to waste. They are all poured together and used as the first coat on the car. Because I am obviously mixing up a specific color....such as silver or red or green.

Almost done! Paint is finished, it is matte because they just finished wet sanding, next is buff and polish, then re-assembly, will be done at the end of the month!
