Heater, not so hot
Hey all!
I'm REALLY stumped and need your direction as my heater does not work correctly. All i get is a brief 3-4 second blast of hot air, then is dissipates quickly resulting in ambient air flow.
I followed the AIM closely and everything (appears) to have checked out
Here is what I have done:
* New heater core
* New water Hoses
* New water control valve
* New T-stat
* New console switch
* All vacuum diaphragms tested (on the box, outside air, foot)
* New vacuum hoses installed and tested
* A/C blows very cold
* All air blows and (defrost, vent, heat) work in all settings
Anything else I'm missing or need to check?
Thanks!

Thanks---Could be... I'll double double check.
I did take off all the hoses and literally poured fluid into one end until it came out the other side.
Is there another place to check?

Melting Slicks
Feel both hoses...they should both be HOT. If not there is a circulation problem. Rare, but check the wp and intake hose nipples for blockage.
You sure the cooling system has run thru couple of hot/cool downs and is purged of air? In other words, its FULL?

Sounds to me like the door in the heater box is bypassing the heater core with outside air. Does the door move when you adjust the temp control to hot and cold?

Well, I had a buddy help me do some serious diagnostics (serious as there was beer involved) and the only thing we could come up with was that the heater control valve was faulty.
This is weird as it is a brand new part, but new parts fail too.
New one arrives on Thursday so, I'll know about 15 minutes after install.

Yep, faulty new (new) yes (did I say new) faulty new water control valve was the problem.
I put the new one on and everything works as it should- heat, cold, heat.
I bench tested the "old" on and the valve proved faulty.
So I have full on heat, just in time for the 100 degree Texas summer!
